I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families whom may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, sex related issues, parent-child issues, or chronic low self-esteem. I have a passion for couples and sex therapy. Using my natural ability to sense emotions, gives me the ability to see the world through their eyes. Working together we understand any trauma, crisis or negative experience is an opportunity to discover a healthier self. By understanding their feelings, goals, fears, and dreams then develop positive beliefs and behaviors to cope with the stress and anxiety of everyday life.

I treat individuals, couples and adolescents. I specialize in couple therapy and work on issues of communication, affairs, intimacy, relationship building and divorce transition. People often believe that they are more independent than they truly are on others, less connected and affected by the people in their lives. However, research shows the opposite. It also helps to learn about our emotions. Emotions often are automatic especially when anxiety and stress is high. My work looks at affective neuroscience which integrates the scientific research of brain function and emotions that drive behavior, focus and our relationships with others."

"The life of the human soul is not a 'being' but a 'becoming' " ~ Alfred Adler My work is based on the belief that people desire to be happy, effective, and content in their lives and that they have within themselves the resources to achieve these goals. My therapeutic goal is to help you evolve toward your greatest potential. I believe that psychotherapy can help individuals most effectively use their resources to increase self-understanding, improve decision-making, solve problems, and create healthier paths to the lives they desire.

Am I the right therapist for you? Helping client's is the primary goal of every therapist. What can you do for me that the others can't? That is a valid question. Many healthcare providers provide symptom management rather than treating the main problem. I mainly use Solution Focused Therapy to focus on client's present and future and to find solutions for their problems. The therapy is not about me; its about you. However, in addition to my years of education, I bring a life-time of personal life experience and an extensive personal knowledge to the sessions.

A fulfilling life - sounds great...but is that really possible? Often times, life circumstances, difficulty managing emotions, or faulty thought patterns can keep us from feeling truly alive. Entering therapy may be a big undertaking but the rewards can be immeasurable!

Do you struggle to find a safe place to express how you truly feel? Have there been times you have felt misunderstood? Or times you’ve felt you just can’t pinpoint why you haven’t fully healed? Or even pinpoint why you can’t seem to stay focused or excel in school, work or life the way you’ve imagined? Here is your sign that you’ve found someone who will be by your side to figure it out together. In therapy and/or psychological assessments/ educational testing, I aim to identify the root of the problem in order to help guide you to the life you want to live.

Happiness is something we find along the way, not something we get at the end of the rainbow. When the pain of staying the same outweighs the fear of change then change will occur. Sometimes we feel powerless and our lives become unmanageable so its important to find support and guidance to help create a life you don't need to escape from. Identifying negative thoughts and patterns and replacing them with healthy alternatives which lead to a deeper, richer and fuller life and lasting recovery. I have over 14 years of experience in the field of chemical dependency, drug addiction and substance abuse.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
