Because each person is different and responds differently to treatment ,these include, but are not limited to Cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT, Motivational interviewing, and trauma focused therapy.
Have you experienced significant trauma? Traumatic events can have feelings of horror, helplessness, and feeling unsafe mentally and physically. I work with acute trauma, which can result from a recent single event, including rape, suicide, murder, or natural disaster events. Chronic trauma, which can be repeated events over a long period of time including domestic violence, abuse of any sort. Complex trauma which is exposure to multiple and varied traumatic events which can often be of an invasive and interpersonal nature. Additionally I work with addictions and eating disorders.

I also have extensive training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged exposure (PE), as well as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT) techniques.
I try to create a light-hearted and non-judgemental environment that allows individuals to build confidence and autonomy while gaining back control over mental health struggles. It's important to me that people feel supported as they navigate a journey of personal growth. Oftentimes, people are nervous to share thoughts or worries they have had for years without talking to someone about it. I challenge people to take the risk to open up and work to solve difficulties that have come up, to make enjoying life just a little bit easier.

I use effective methods such as EMDR, IFS, DBT, mindfulness, and somatic techniques, tailored to your needs.
Do you feel haunted by feelings of anxiety, anger, sadness, or shame? Are there moments where memories from the past overwhelm you in the present? Perhaps you’re also dealing with a strong fear of failure and self-criticism, despite achieving outward success. Maybe you’re someone who always strives to excel and manage everything top notch. Carrying the weight of perfection and constantly supporting others while neglecting your own needs can be draining. I’m here to help you find relief. Among my clients are educators, engineers, managers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and artists, all seeking to make meaningful changes in their lives.

I use DBT, CBT and Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT), as well as other evidence-based treatment modalities to help adults throughout the lifespan, teens, and parents, including moms experiencing post-partum depression, to get back on track with the life they want to lead.
It's all about relationships, starting with your relationship to yourself, your family of origin, your partner, children, friends. And then there's the relationship to your problems: things like depression, anxiety, ADHD, post-partum and parenting stress, body-image problems. How do you work with the set of challenges that life hands you? I work with clients to understand themselves and their own story, and then apply that understanding, in the form of coping and problem-solving skills, to their relationships, to get through life's pain and into a life worth living.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
