Hi, I'm Ann Whittington, I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been in private practice for more than 25 years. I meet clients where they are and help them feel safe in the context of a therapeutic relationship that honors gifts and strengths, as well as challenges. I begin with honoring the client by starting where they are with a deep respect for the courage it takes to develop insight and make the changes that they want to make. These are the theories and modalities I use.

My name is Mark Perez, LCSW 91261. My approach to therapy is straightforward in a compassionate, and empathic way. I also enjoy using laughter when topics become heavy. My therapeutic approach is working with strengths-based and problem-solving techniques, but it really depends on the situation the client is working with. My focus is broad I enjoy working with teenagers to the elderly. I enjoy listening to the stories and looking at the faces of the people I'm working with. It tells me a lot about who they are and how their issue has affected them.

Hello, I'm Grant. I have been a therapist for many years and have learned one thing: life can be difficult but with the right perspectives and skills and a willingness to try them things are very likely to get better. There are no magic paths, but I believe there is always a path toward less suffering and greater wellbeing. I work with people who struggle with depression, anxiety, emotional intensity and instability, OCD, and high stress. The people I enjoy the most are those who are willing to receive support and to start making changes.

Hi there, I’m Rebecca. The main factor that predicts successful therapy treatment is not the theories or interventions (or fancy couch), but the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client. You deserve to feel that your therapist truly cares, listens attentively, and supports you. My approach has been described as warm, genuine, and direct. I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all, and that we bring our own individual needs when it comes to our mental health.

Are the present circumstances getting too stressful? There are so many changes of which we are not in control- job insecurity, fear of disease/death, separation from family members, and kids at home - every day, ALL day! (I am a Registered Play Therapist along with being a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist.) Life's difficulties may have seemed manageable a few months ago, but now are overwhelming.

I work very well with clients who feel nervous, anxious or very depressed. By calming them and getting them to recognize their positive potentialities, I quickly assist them to bring about change. I have confidence that my clients will again find purpose, peace and learn how to achieve what they strive to accomplish. I relate well to teens and children. I have been very successful in changing behavioral patterns, increasing school performance and reducing conflicts with parents and sibs. With over 34 years experience, I have worked with most disabling conditions and use positive strategies to bring change.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
