I train in Emotion-Focused Therapy, Gestalt therapy, Intergenerational Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy.
Working through traumatic experiences while achieving a sense of wholeness may be a difficult journey to undertake alone. It's not uncommon to experience a range of emotions (e.g., shame, depression, fear, grief, and anger). Together, we cultivate growth, integrating fragmented pieces and clarifying your experiences. With compassion as our guide, we navigate your journey with courage and resilience, nourishing exploration and revealing hidden truths. Together, we create a safe place to explore, heal, and embrace your authenticity without judgment or constraint.

I use an eclectic approach to therapy, incorporating a psychodynamic and family systems perspective with CBT.
As a clinical psychologist, I work with clients towards meeting their personal goals and deepening their understanding of themselves. I have expertise in treating clients who are facing a particularly difficult time in their lives, including coping with health issues, changes in family dynamics, social challenges, grief, and navigating life transitions. As part of the Claremont community, I work frequently with college students as they manage increasing independence. I also have experience working with medical professionals on improving work life balance and stress management, having worked at Children's Hospital for several years.

It takes great courage to seek help, and is a particularly difficult task when you are a parent of child who is struggling behaviorally and emotionally. I have over 15 years of experience working with children and families in the mental health field in a variety of settings including clinics, homes, and schools. I believe through therapy, children and adults find their resilience and courage within to overcome life's biggest obstacles and find their path to the successes they desire in life. The power of a child finding their voice or a parent building their toolbox of responses to difficult behaviors are some of my main focuses.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, wondering why you have strong reactions to small stressors or during interactions with others. Life doesn't wait for us to resolve each bad experience/trauma in life, they build up over time and leave us feeling hopeless, alone and disconnected from others. Our past traumas, if unresolved, can impact us negatively with how we interact with others. For the last 19 years, I have helped individuals from all walks of life overcome issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, traumas, and work/school stressors.

I struggled immensly with anxiety and depression for many years. In my teens and twenties I was in and out of emergency rooms because of panic attacks. In 1997 I started studying mindfulness meditation with Jon Kabat-Zinn and everything changed from that point forward. Once I learned how to have better control over my thoughts and emotions, anxiety and depression became much easier to deal with. I became a therapist and mindfulness teacher to help others gain the same skills.

My belief is that we are happiest when we are mentally, spiritually, and physically balanced. Sometimes things happen that disrupt this balance, and impact our ability to lead a fulfilling life. My goal is to partner with people to discover balance, as well as provide hope and healing to those who are hurting. I know it can be uncomfortable thinking about going to counseling, and many wait until things seem hopeless. I believe that there is always hope, and with the right tools and support, you can move forward and begin enjoying life to the fullest.

Family Systems Therapists
Family Systems therapists view problems within the family as the result not of particular members' behaviors, but of the family's group dynamic. The family is seen as a complex system having its own language, roles, rules, beliefs, needs and patterns. The therapist helps each individual member understand how their childhood family operated, their role in that system, and how that experience has shaped their role in the current family.
