Waitlist for new clients
I am certified in brainspotting, and trained in CBT, DBT, acceptance and commitment therapy and mind-body bridging.
Hi, I’m Jessica. My practice is dedicated to teens and women who struggle with anxiety, depression, negative self worth and trauma. I focus on mind-body connection, which can be different from traditional talk therapy. By integrating the mind and body, my clients are able to find a connection to the origin of the problem and find solutions that are more permanent and long lasting by creating new neural pathways. My goal is to support you in transforming and healing and to be able to empower and inspire you to make use of what you have been through, allowing your experiences to become your strengths.

Delectable Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Life can be really tough sometimes and has been for a lot of people lately. Between the stress of a pandemic which has come with a lot of health concerns, job stress, and financial issues, and then there is still the rest of life and its stressors to deal with on top of that. At this point, no one is immune to mental distress, and no one should feel like they can’t, shouldn’t, or aren’t worthy of having someone to help them through it. I can and want to be there for you in this way.

I believe that change is inevitable and constant. Change occurs within a person based on their experiences, and as a person has different experiences, they change within themselves. Some people may be seeking help changing back to who they were, some may need help completing a change within them already, and some may want to change their current experiences to differ from their past. I believe successful therapy happens when the client and I become a team working together to make that change achievable. I would like to work with you to help you discover your process within the cycle of the experience of change.

If you struggle with anxiety or depression, you know how difficult it can be to cope. Anxiety is easy to recognize. We worry more, avoid difficult situations, and feel tense, awkward, or ineffective. Depression feels exhausting and hopeless. We judge ourselves and other people harshly, feel intense sadness, and become passive. It can feel like we can't do anything right or that things never go our way. Imagine being more active, skilled, and competent, communicating more effectively in relationships, being more productive at work or school, and feeling more satisfied with life.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
