The therapeutic relationship is all-important in establishing trust and a willingness to face oneself, because mediating fear is a natural challenge in the process.
I've been in practice for many years, in both medical clinics and private practice settings, so I have treated all kinds of issues. Psychotherapy is a deeply personal and intimate experience, and I value the privilege of being a part of a person's commitment to change. Areas of advanced training include but are not limited to Brainspotting, the quick pulse (by Jo Dunning), codependence and abuse recovery, emotional freedom technique, Matrix Reimprinting, cognitive and psychodynamic psychotherapy, poetry therapy, marital and family therapy, sexual therapy, focused mindfulness, quantum entrainment, and spiritually focused therapy.

Are you an adult who hasn't fully gotten over how you were treated as a child? Do you keep repeating the same negative relationship patterns or have negative beliefs about your worth? Are you overcome with sadness about the childhood you should have had and feel that you weren't given a "voice" or "choice" as a child? Have you experienced emotional neglect and/or feel that you weren't emotionally cared for as a child? Are you having difficulty navigating your adult relationship(s) with one or more of your parents because of how they treated you or because they are emotionally immature? If any of these feel true to you, I can help.

My approach is holistic with the belief the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected, and my approach is practical by providing you with tools to achieve the life or relationship you desire.
Worry, stress, and poor sleep have become all too familiar. Maybe a sense of hopelessness, helplessness or just feeling stuck are common thoughts. You may be in a marriage or relationship that has become increasingly more difficult, more conflicted, less loving and passionate, and you are wondering if you should stay, go, or if anything can change. You’ve set goals, you’ve given yourself pep talks, you’ve promised yourself you’ll change, but it’s not working. Usually, you can snap out of it, but this feels different. Often these challenges feel all consuming, and having a trusted and qualified person walk alongside you is helpful.

I believe that while it’s relationships that hurt us it is also relationships that heal us, the therapeutic relationship being especially healing.
Hello and welcome! I'm Christiana, Christi if you prefer. I’m honored to join you in your therapeutic journey by co-creating a space of safety, empathy, and respect. My approach to therapy is strength-based and meaning-centered. Together, I want to build upon your strengths, grow your sense of self and autonomy, and explore what is most meaningful to you. In short—I want to know what it’s like to be you and I want to celebrate your commitment to yourself, which I know requires a lot of heart. My goal as your therapist is to make you feel seen, heard, and known, where no need goes unaddressed and no feelings are deemed unimportant.

I enjoy working with ages 12 and up, especially those experiencing conflicts in their personal, school and professional life. Many experience complexities and challenges that are hard to resolve. "Connection" is the most important aspect in developing a natural, trusting and collaborative working relationship. Connection promotes a healthy therapeutic alliance where goals can be achieved and reflected upon. A therapeutic relationship involves weaving compassion and understanding while developing the ability to effectively communicate in a safe, nurturing environment. Parent coaching and co-parenting are also available.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
