I have extensive experience working with military and veteran populations to support transition, Veteran Affairs navigation, substance use, anxiety, stress management, emotional regulation, and trauma.
Accepting the responsibility to change is a difficult task but once you take the initiative, it is highly rewarding. Sometimes we need to take a step back to reflect on a new way to approach situations when "our way" seems to be getting in our way. These are common responses to trauma, depression, and many other conditions that we can't always think our way out of, despite our best efforts.

Hey there! Deciding to start the journey of therapy is something people come to for so many reasons. To heal trauma. To grieve. To vent. To find the way through a huge life transition. To discover who they are. To learn better ways to cope. To find a way to become un-stuck when things just aren’t working. It is about sitting through feelings in a safe space where you can develop new patterns and experience emotional wellness and healing. I practice from a variety of theoretical frameworks, drawing on aspects of Cognitive-Behavioral and Psychodynamic approaches through a trauma-informed lens.

I believe that by focusing on trauma at the root of unhealthy coping, and improving coping skills, many problems can be reduced or eliminated for a better quality of life, however each individual defines that.
I specialize in treating adults who have been diagnosed with eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating), anxiety, depression, and substance-use disorders. I also have a wide range of experience with active-duty Service Members and Veterans, particularly trauma survivors struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ( PTSD), sexual assault, and moral injury.

My specialties include working with people struggling with sadness, anxious thoughts, trauma, self-esteem, and relationship challenges.
Sometimes it can feel like the stressors of life are extra heavy. It can feel like no matter how hard you try to get through this season, there is no way out. Have you missed the old you? Are you feeling sad, stressed, and like no one understands what you're going through? You may be searching for a way to move out of the pain and hurt that have been keeping you from joy. A way to let go of the shame and guilt you have been carrying and learn how to cope with the struggles of life.

I use the evidence-based approach, EMDR therapy, to help heal any trauma and to help you feel calm in your body.
Do you feel stuck and disconnected to yourself and within your relationships? Do you repeat relationship patterns over and over again? Do you use self-sabotaging coping mechanisms to get by? Maybe you feel shame, self-doubt, and dissatisfaction in your life. Perhaps you look to others to feel and be okay, unsure of your ability to make wise decisions. What would it be like to trust yourself completely to know what you need and to be able thrive? It is possible to feel differently in the relationship with yourself and others. You can gain insight into your patterns, learn to offer yourself compassion, and feel safe inside your body.

These experiences have shaped my clinical interests in working with clients who are experiencing trauma and grief, and supporting adolescents and young adults as they figure out who they are and who they want to be.
I believe that we all do our best to navigate the stresses of life, and sometimes in the journey we feel directionless, knocked down, or pulled between competing paths. It may be that something isn’t working, but you haven’t quite figured out what. Although feeling stuck can be scary or unsettling, you do not have to go through it alone. I strive to be trauma-informed and culturally sensitive in my therapeutic approach. My hope is to create a safe space for my clients to feel empowered to face and manage their suffering, learn what makes them resilient, and work toward what they value. Accepting new clients as of 9/25/2024

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
