Currently I am getting trained in Parent Child Interaction Therapy to help toddlers and children to manage their behaviors.
Is your toddler, child, teen or adult family member struggling to thrive due to family dynamics, cultural pressures, or other challenges? I can help you to reconnect and understand your child as well as yourself. A key aspect of my therapeutic approach utilizes insights from my extensive experience with full service partnership (FSP) wraparound programs. This family-based, community-driven model has deepened my understanding of how to address mental health needs through a holistic, culturally-responsive lens.

I help parents use personalized ABA strategies to manage challenging behavior and strengthen the parent-child bonds by empowering you as the teacher in your child's development, enhancing your skills, and positively impacting your family's daily life.
Hello. While working together, I strive to accomplish significant milestones for your child and family. Some examples of skills learned for a child and their family include fostering independent dressing, facilitating the transition from non-verbal to functional communication with AACD, and addressing self-injurious behaviors like head-banging. We guide children to express distress through alternative means, such as hitting their thighs or stomping their feet. Applying evidence-based ABA techniques has a profound impact, enhancing family communication, refining dressing routines, and offering an alternative behavior to self-injury.

My goal is to guide people restore their self-esteem as a competent individual, build a healthy relationship with others, especially with their spouse and children, and promote lasting change that brings them to feel loved, capable, and alive. It may be a long journey, but by the end of the journey I have seen people moving away from unhealthy vicious cycle of the past and creating more desirable relationships with each other.

I am certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) which focuses on improving the family dynamics between a child and his or her family through parent coaching.
Your goals can become reality. Not only can you change for the better, but you can continue fulfillment in life past the walls of treatment. During treatment I hope to communicate that therapy does not have to be scary, sad, or judgmental. Instead, I aspire to create a safe space that allows clients to gain lasting insight and growth. Thus, as a trained professional and passionate individual, my mission is to foster self-sufficiency for my clients by promoting growth and success beyond the time of treatment.

The following are my trainings and certifications; Certified in CPI (Crisis Prevention Interventions) - Certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapist (PCIT) - Trained MAP Therapy - Trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - Trained in Mindfulness Counseling.
One of the most important things that therapy can help you to achieve is awareness. Awareness allows for change. This is a phrase I have coined that you will hear from me often. When we achieve awareness within ourselves, awareness of our environment, and awareness of our patterns of thoughts and behaviors - that's when positive changes can start to happen. As your therapist, I will be an additional resource for you as you endeavor to explore the areas of your life that need your energy and attention. You and I will develop a therapeutic relationship wherein we get to know one another and we work together toward your treatment goals

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists

Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?

PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?

In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
