The relationship roller coaster ride is a ride none of us enjoy. If your relationship is filled with tension, distress, or conflict it can leave you feeling alone, overwhelmed, anxious, and depressed. In fact, there are few things in life more painful than an important relationship that is stuck in a negative pattern of disconnection. You need someone who can help you find your way from the pain of disconnection to the safety and comfort of security, closeness, and connection. That person needs to understand you and be warm, compassionate, and relational.

With all the responsibilities we have, life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Sometimes, the commitments we once enjoyed—our family, friends, work—can start to feel draining, leaving us feeling disconnected or alone. I know that therapy can sound scary and that reaching out feels big. I also know that you already have strengths. Together, we can figure out how to best use your strengths and skills to bring meaning and joy back into your day.

My mission in life is to help others overcome hardship, heal, and find hope in their lives. If you are looking to build healthier familial and romantic relationships, I am able to help. I am trained to guide my clients in breaking down negative communication patterns, and increasing connection with their loved ones. This includes working with children, individuals, couples, and families. I also specialize in therapy for those experiencing grief or loss. Suffering a loss is often disorienting and traumatic; it can feel impossible to continue with daily tasks when you feel like you’re trapped in a fog. I am here to support you.

I believe the two major problem areas we face in life deal with our relationships and our coping; and the main factors influencing how we manage these issues relies on our attachment style, trauma history, and our emotional intelligence, or lack there-of. My job is to help unlock the unconscious- help bring awareness to these issues and how they may be negatively impacting your life and relationships. Essentially, my aim is to assist you in identifying and allowing yourself to express emotions, and learn to tolerate/manage anxiety and discomfort, rather than self-soothe in various, unsafe ways that are causing problems in your life.

I have been providing mental health services for over 30 years. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults (18-65+) in inpatient and outpatient agencies in California, Washinton state, and Las Vegas. I am Mexican American bilingual and bicultural and have been privileged to work with that population since working in San Diego. I am always learning and seeking new more current modalities to give each patient individualized treatment. I am very excited to learn more about the Neuropsychic studies and how learning more how the brain systems interactions result in mental and emotional disfunction.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
