These include a family systems approach, humanistic, cognitive behavioral, conflict mediation, spirituality and Jewish thought.
When you are feeling depressed or anxious, you have a real reason to want to be heard. You communicate through words and body language. A child communicates through play and art. Whichever way you communicate, I am dedicated to hear what you have to say and gain a real understanding of what is going on. Together, we can explore your uniqueness and find strength in that. Whether it is a family issue or a personal one, taking care of yourself is a priority. I believe that the basic foundation of therapy is a good relationship between therapist and client.

It's a challenge to be in this world. You want to be considerate and kind; you also want to fulfill your potential. Were you were raised with a lot of "shoulds"? Were you told to control or ignore your feelings? Sometimes tremendous potential for love can be blocked by pain from the past, or anxiety about the future. But, you can learn to accept and love yourself. And that can change your life. Here's an old, fun riddle about therapy: "How many therapists does it take to change a light bulb?" "One... but the lightbulb has to want to change." My ideal client may not know how to change yet, but they want to change.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. Let me share a little bit about myself and my practice. In college, I heard the quote “be the person you needed when you were young;” this led me to the path of being a licensed marriage and family therapist. I focus on child and adolescent populations who are experiencing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and challenging family dynamics. I also have experience with crisis intervention for suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and self-harming behaviors.

I offer support for those who feel like they're carrying the weight of the world-maybe it's a past trauma, anxiety, or strained relationships. You could be wrestling with vulnerability, exploring identity in LGBTQ+ spaces, a couple striving for deeper connection, a creative looking to unleash your potential, or an expat navigating the challenges of living abroad. I provide a warm, non-judgemental space to unpack struggles, identify needs and narratives that no longer serve you, so that you can heal, connect, and thrive. By working together, we'll forge a strong foundation for lasting change and personal growth.

My clients are seeking help adjusting to major life changes, looking to live with painful emotions and eventually adapting them into meaningful action - towards themselves and those they love. I largely work with women, men and teenagers who are going through divorce and family restructuring, i.e. becoming re-singled, re-partnered, or learning to accept life split between two homes. Individuals looking to redefine place and purpose in the world after change, especially unwanted, is hard work. Having a sounding board and therapeutic guide who listens, challenges and supports you is essential to reaching your goals.

You know you're a good parent. You know you're a good partner or spouse. So why are things so difficult? In spite of our best efforts and intentions, life can present us with unexpected challenges in our families, challenges that push us to our very limits. When family members are faced with special needs, chronic illness or estrangement it impacts everyone. Understanding this will allow you to be your best self and the best advocate or caregiver you can be. As a therapist, my goal is to give troubled families the support they need to restore balance and wellness.

“I hate my body.” If you’re struggling with an eating disorder, body dysmorphia, or disordered eating habits, these statements may sound familiar. A challenging relationship with food and body image can be debilitating and all-consuming. What you may be surprised to discover is that your obsession with weight, constant battle with eating, and urges to use self-destructive food behaviors are actually not about food or weight! They are, however, symptoms of deeper internal conflicts and emotional dysregulation - trauma, depression, anxiety, oppression, family turmoil, and low self-esteem. This is where I can help.

Burnt out professional: CHECK, High Achiever at your wits end: CHECK, Trying to find a therapist and have no clue who is going to understand you, CHECK. I see you; as a highly accomplished human being, you are accustomed to challenges, but anxiety can feel like a constant, unwelcome companion. It's exhausting thinking about worst case scenarios, overanalyzing the last conversation you had; and constantly worrying about the state of the world that we live in. It doesn't have to feel this way. If you are ready to trade in the constant drone of your worries for inner peace and calmness, I got you.

I came to practice psychotherapy because I believe life's crises can also provide opportunities for profound change and growth. Therapy should be a safe space for patients to assess what is meaningful and what has been outgrown, what has been lost and what can be gained by working through that loss. Many of my clients work (or play) in the arts; many are trauma survivors. I run an in-person weekly trauma group on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to noon for women with PTSD from my Westwood office, close to UCLA. If you think you'd like to join, I'll meet with you to discuss it without charge.

One of life's biggest challenges is living a life you want. I am trained in working with you to identify what that life looks like and to support you in making the necessary changes you need to get there. I believe that my role as a psychotherapist is to provide you with awareness into patterns in your life that no longer work for you but also be sensitive enough to your life and cultural experiences whereby you feel heard, understood and supported

Jewish Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same background to be able to work together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of cultural forces, such as discrimination, that may contribute to that client’s concerns. With a professional who has such training, a client should feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues without feeling that they need to self-censor.

How can I recognize an effective Jewish therapist?

As with members of any religious or ethnic group, just because two people happen to be Jewish does not guarantee that they will share the same values, knowledge, or experiences. A Jewish client seeking a therapist who shares their cultural identity, or for whom it’s important that a therapist share their religious beliefs, may want to discuss a professional’s Jewish background with them before beginning therapy. For someone who seeks justification for major life changes in their religious tradition, or in biblical writings, finding a therapist who is comfortable framing guidance in that context may be especially valuable.

Would a Jewish therapist have unique training?

No, but they should have the same training and certification as any other mental health professional, as well as experience with a range of evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or mindfulness-based therapy. A therapist with this type of experience should be able to help any client feel comfortable and safe, which is essential for a therapeutic alliance. Once this is established, a potential client may want to find out more about the therapist’s Jewish background.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with Jewish clients?

A client can directly ask a therapist if they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and if so, whether these individuals sought counseling for faith-related issues or marital or familial issues in which their Jewish background was a factor. A client may also wish to ask a potential therapist whether they incorporate Jewish teachings and values into their own professional work.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Jewish therapists?

The directory of Jewish therapists includes professionals who have opted to share their cultural background on their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their background, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and/or communities.
