Navigating through life can at times be challenging. Life stressors may bring forth a myriad of emotions that can be overwhelming and debilitating. Past hurts may intrude and impinge on your way of adapting and succeeding in life. Through psychotherapy, I aim to provide you with a safe space that would allow for a deeper understanding of the challenges you encounter and its impact on the areas of your work, school, and relationships. The safe space that we would work together to create will  make way for collaborative reflections and discoveries through self observations, self attunement, and self awareness.

Welcome! I am glad that you are here. I understand that finding the time to take care of your mind can be hard. We all get caught up in our thoughts and feelings of our day to day living and we may not necessarily take time to really listen to ourselves and focus on the messages our mind is saying to us. At MindCare Psychological Services we strive to help you in taking care of your mind. I believe that by taking care of your mind, you are working on promoting healthy functioning in other areas of your life that will result in enhanced overall wellbeing.

We all struggle at times and our struggles are our own, do not compare what may feel catastrophic to you to what others are dealing with. I have been practicing for 12 years and revolve my practice around person-centered therapy; non-judgment, genuineness & positive regard. I will accept you for who you are and we will start where you are. My goal is to help you reach your goals. I find that humor, compassion, and authenticity allow my clients to feel comfortable and progress at the same time. Since 2010, I have provided intensive therapy at institutional, residential, and outpatient levels of care for adults and adolescents.

**Virtual sessions available** " Do you have a problem (or relationship) that you have spent countless hours thinking about, trying to solve, and maybe even seeking the advice of friends? Yet somehow you are still struggling to find a solution that works for you. Does your anxiety take over at the worst possible moment? Perhaps you wish life with your partner could be as fulfilling as it was when you first got together. Your current situation may leave you feeling stuck, but there is hope!

Hello there, and welcome! If you’re here it’s because you’re searching for more and I want to first credit the bravery in that search. This whole ‘life thing’ is weird and difficult. It’s okay that we sometimes feel lost, afraid, angry, or hopeless with ourselves or all the moving parts around us. It’s okay that we don’t always understand our own feelings or thoughts or needs. And it is absolutely okay to need some support sometimes, and I’m humbled to be that support. In my time as a therapist (and my time in therapy) I have seen the process awaken a wisdom, and strength, and healing capacity that we don’t yet know is there.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
