I believe life is always moving us towards greater wholeness, inviting us to become all of who we are and fully express that in the world. In my practice, I work with individuals and couples to support them in this journey. Through ongoing therapy sessions or customized, intensive psychotherapy retreats, my goal is to help you access and integrate the parts of yourself that you may be unaware of, so you can live more fully and authentically. With extensive training in trauma-informed care, I am certified in EMDR therapy for both acute and complex trauma. My approach is deeply informed by Depth Psychology.

I individualize treatment, weaving Relational, Jungian, and Expressive Arts Therapy with CBT, DBT and ACT based on your needs.
I am here to tell you, you are not broken, even if your mind may tell you so. When we are anxious or in despair, we can’t think straight or engage our usual survival strategies. It can impact our health, body, emotions, relationships, perception of self and reality. We can't make sense of the distorted thoughts alone. We need a therapist to help guide us. I often help young women who are feeling shy, anxious, obsessive, depressed, struggling with perfectionism or life transitions. I enjoy helping girls and women achieve developmentally appropriate social-emotional, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

My approach integrates body, mind, and spirit – such as mindfulness/presence, somatic approaches, “parts” work, expressive arts, self-compassion, and energy awareness – with more traditional methods like cognitive behavioral therapy.
Your challenges aren’t in vain – they can be springboards into the life you dream of. Maybe you have felt overwhelmed, stressed out, anxious, sorrowful, or despairing. These difficult emotions can indicate that transformation, power, and aliveness are at hand. You just need the right guide to help you move through them to that fulfilling, happier life that you long for. I’m skilled at helping you explore your own depths – even the scary places – to find your hidden treasures. Your relationships, work, and sense of self can become more authentic and fulfilling – even when imperfect. And you’ll discover your inner resilience, too.

You don’t have to suffer alone. Sitting with difficult emotions, pain, and discomfort can be challenging. Allow the parts of you that have been rejected, repressed, hidden, or forgotten to surface. Allow these parts of you to be seen, to be heard, to be held, to be loved. It takes great courage to face ourselves, our truths, and our pain. But walking through the darkness is the only way we can remember how much strength and light we hold within. Through presence and acceptance of ourselves, we rediscover new depths of ease, peace, love, and joy. The journey inwards is the only true path towards authenticity, wholeness, and freedom.

Many of the clients I work with have either lost or struggled to develop a sense of control in their lives and relationships– having fallen into destructive patterns of substance abuse/addiction and impulsive and/or self-harming behaviors. Others may be struggling with an excess of self-imposed control– leading to a sense of isolation and fear of taking healthy risks. Some are confronting a major life-transition, loss of identity, divorce, death of a loved one or faced with a pervading sense of meaninglessness. All are, in one way or another, seeking to increase their sense of personal agency and effectiveness in daily life.

So many people wonder what happened to their life. They struggle with navigating relationships, question their gender identity, or are pressured at school or work, unsure of how to make it through the day. Moments like these can be overwhelming, but with guidance and support, many can not only survive but flourish.

Expressive Arts Therapists
What happens in expressive arts therapy?
In an expressive arts therapy session, the therapist will provide the space and materials necessary to encourage the client to express themselves creatively. These can include art supplies, musical instruments, a journal, a camera, and more. The therapist offers careful guidance throughout the creative process, often noticing and talking about psychological issues as they arise. Many clients also benefit from the mind-body connection—the physical act of making art can help them feel more grounded and present.
How long does expressive arts therapy take?
An expressive arts therapy session will typically last between 50 minutes and an hour. Group sessions may run longer. Sometimes, a client might only need one or two sessions of expressive arts therapy in conjunction with talk therapy to resolve a psychological issue. Others might find a fixed number of sessions over the course of either weeks or months to be beneficial. The duration depends on the client and their individual needs and goals for therapy.
How does expressive arts therapy help children?
Creativity is an important part of normal child development. Expressive arts therapy proves a safe outlet for child clients to learn to identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways. In expressive arts therapy, children can build their self-esteem, discover more about their personality and strengths, and feel a sense of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic world. This therapeutic approach can be particularly helpful for children with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, speech impairments, and other conditions.
What are the limitations of expressive arts therapy?
Sometimes individuals have physical limitations that can affect their ability to express themselves artistically in certain mediums. For example, someone with hearing problems might find it difficult to make music. Sickness and mobility issues can make some types of art physically inaccessible (e.g., sculpting, dancing, etc.). Sometimes, clients are overly skeptical and have trouble letting go and engaging with the creative process. Individuals who require a higher level of care may be better served with other types of therapy.
