Imagine feeling confident in your decisions, building stronger connections, and managing life’s challenges with resilience.
Life can feel overwhelming, as if the weight of responsibilities and emotions is becoming too much to carry. You might find yourself replaying past conversations, unsure if you handled things right or wondering if you’re enough. Perhaps you’re struggling with a feeling of being stuck, not quite sure how to move forward but knowing something needs to change. Navigating relationships, personal growth, and the pressure to meet expectations can leave you feeling isolated or even burned out. You want to feel more in control, more understood, and find some sense of peace, but the path to that destination feels unclear.

Psychotherapy is a two-way street, no different than any other relationship. This means there is a mutual commitment to the therapy process. Change is brought about only with consistency. This holds good no matter what the severity or kind of mental disturbance is being dealt with. By submitting oneself to such a process, individual needs are met and goals are attained.

I believe in the fundamental, basic goodness of all hu mans; when living from a place of depth there can be a gentleness, ease, and gratitude toward ourselves, life, and everything we do. Nature teaches us that stress and healing are cyclical. That they are an integral part of our experience. Yet sometimes we get stuck and life can feel heavy, overwhelming and dark. During these times, we might need others to support us. To guide us in finding new ways of relating to ourselves as well as these stressful and contracted states. Psychotherapy can offer that help.

There are things about relationships that all of us find challenging. Communication with your spouse, partner, or children for some. Trauma experienced by yourself or someone close to you. We could insert 100 other examples here, but no one should have to try to figure it out on their own. There is someone out there that can support you on your journey, and I hope that person is me.

I'm a clinical psychologist practicing with those who suffer from loneliness, anxiety, obsessions, trauma, anger, aloofness, issues of identity and intimacy, difficult life circumstances, and many other problems. While I greatly value knowledge about psychopathology, I find a strictly diagnosis-based approach to be limiting. Instead, we might be curious together about the many aspects of life that bear on your particular suffering. This broad exploration and discovery can only happen in a safe and confidential relationship. I feel so privileged when someone chooses to reveal themselves to me on these deeply personal levels.

Working together in a warm, supportive, and connected relationship, we can gain access to these deep, transformative emotions to find healing, strength, and unimagined new vitality. I enjoy working with students and young adults, those in mid-life, and elders.

Many people experience significant feelings of unworthiness, depression, and isolation even if they are "successful" by today's standards.
My early training and work with young children and their parents prepared me for my current work treating adults and couples; many of the struggles these families had centered around bonding and attachment. Today, most of my adult patients face relationship issues rooted in early life experiences. During psychotherapy treatments, I help my patients understand the value of working through early emotional losses so they can mature and enjoy healthy adult relationships.

Waitlist for new clients
For the 22 last years I have worked successfully with adult clients dealing with a wide range of issues including marital and relationship problems, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, abuse issues, personality issues and mental health concerns. I believe a trusting relationship between the therapist and client is the foundation for all growth and change. However, the relationship itself is typically not sufficient. I will help you set goals for your therapy based upon what you would like to have different in your life, and together we will explore and change the blocks which have prevented you from achieving your goals.

Many of us enter adulthood with great expectations only to find that life isn't what we thought it would be.
I became a therapist to help individuals and couples successfully navigate the difficulties of life and relationships. I provide a safe, compassionate, and confidential environment for each of my clients so that they might move towards healing and growth in their lives. My passion is to help individuals and couples find the intimacy they desire by uncovering specific patterns and obstacles to intimacy and building on their strengths so that they have the relationships they truly desire.

I have seen incredible results that have taught me much about the resilience of the hu man spirit.
Anxiety, Depression and Substance Abuse have reached epidemic proportions in today's world. They have become a way of life for many, causing undue anguish and pain, and jeopardizing the well-being of millions as well as the significant relationships in their lives. For over 25 years I have been helping people find a way back to themselves and on a path to living healthier and happier lives. It would be an honor to help you.

There are many paths up the mountain. I believe that each individual is as unique as the pathway they select in life. On every path there are difficult challenges that bring questions. Why do I feel this way? What am I missing? Is what I'm feeling a mental illness? Is my brain functioning properly? Do I need professional help?

I consciously manage a small caseload so that I can dedicate the time and commitment needed to providing thoughtful, quality care.
For those who struggle with decision-regret and anxiety around making the perfect choice, picking a therapist on this website is work in itself - if you're here reading this and that's you, I commend you as your therapy has already begun. Anxious and seemingly uncontrollable thoughts, "imposter syndrome", endless struggles to be perfect, only to be met with guilt and regret; all uncomfortable things that we hu mans try to avoid and control, yet all of that avoiding and controlling just doesn't seem to do any good. You're here to learn better ways to manage these experiences, and that's where I can help.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
