You may long to live wholeheartedly - and to feel loved and connected - but struggle with anger, depression, loneliness, or inexplicable sadness and anxiety. You may find the stress of work, life, running a household, or parenting has diminished your capacity to feel joy and be creative. Once a source of comfort and pleasure, your intimate relationship may now be disappointing, frustrating, or even deadening. Therapy can help relieve the symptoms of debilitating feelings by uncovering the underlying (and sometimes unconscious) causes, and empower individuals - and couples - to become the authors of the lives they want to live.

I see clients for most presenting problems, although I specialize in anxiety, relationship issues, depression, stress, spirituality, and chronic pain/illness (I published a book entitled, Living Well with a Hidden Disability, on coping with invisible health conditions.
Therapy Without the Angst! Therapy doesn't have to take years and be intensely painful. I help clients to develop the skills to feel better soon. I'll teach you to calm your anxious mind, feel more confident, and find meaning in life challenges. As a licensed psychotherapist for over 30 years, I've culled the best of many different techniques, for instance: CBT helps change unproductive thinking and behavior; insight therapy offers awareness; and DBT helps to regulate intense emotions and reactions. I offer not just therapeutic techniques but good-old common sense!

Life can be hard... and we don’t have to do it alone. I work with couples to strengthen connection, deepen intimacy, rebuild trust after betrayal, and find their voice within the relationship. I work with individuals around issues of anxiety, depression, grief, self esteem, relationships, and parenting. My own challenges, and the work I have done to heal, have afforded me the ability to be present and sit with people in their own pain. I have a natural inclination to seek out deep connection with people which has aided my ability in guiding my clients to deepen connections with others,

Paying attention to our relationship’s unfolding dynamics clues us into the repeating patterns known and not yet discovered in your life.
While it can be intimidating to think about beginning therapy, it’s my hope that my warm and collaborative style of engaging with you will offer some ease in initiating our work together. Having dedicated space for understanding and learning about you by speaking can feel relieving, and starts with a good amount of courage in your initial reaching out. In our work together, I will carefully listen to you while building a collaborative relationship based in warm curiosity, offering you my thoughts and connections related to the barriers that may be holding you back from moving towards your known and yet-to-be-known goals.

My services focus on improving the parent-child relationship, and the relationships between children and their teachers and peers.
If your child is experiencing tantrums or aggression, feels anxious, angry, or sad, has a low tolerance for frustration, or has poor relationships with other children or adults, I can help. I am a therapist specialized in working with young children and their families. I work with parents to help them understand their child's behavior and know how to respond during difficult parenting moments. I work with children to help them build social skills, understand and regulate their emotions, and overcome traumatic experiences (ex.death, illness) or difficult life transitions (ex. birth of a new sibling, divorce, school expulsion).

I use my experiences in the relationship with the person/couple to shed light on repetitive relational patterns that may be active between me and the individual or couple.
Every person has many sides to their personality. Often these different sides are in conflict with one another and cause pain, anxiety and/or depression. When we find ourselves caught in repeated conflict in relationships, or we behave in ways that feel uncharacteristic, we often are in conflict with an aspect of ourself that is unknown or unconscious to us.The goal of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy is to help the unconscious self become conscious. When we begin to know ourselves better we can often make better choices and develop better tools to deal with the conflicts and stress that life brings us.

I work from a relational perspective meaning I look to our relationship and what is happening between us as a point of entry for understanding and healing.
As a psychodynamic therapist, I listen on many levels for what is troubling you and connect any potential patterns I am hearing to effect long-term change and healing. I may point to things that stand out to me, but might otherwise pass you by. You already have a keen sense of awareness—our work will help you further connect with yourself and dynamics and triggers that are more elusive. Through a trauma-informed lens, I will work with you to ground in your experience, identify what is happening for you in a difficult moment, and explore ways to create more space and comfort within yourself, and satisfaction in your relationships.

Using methods backed by psychological research, I assist people in addressing anxiety, panic, high stress, depression, substance use, emotional overwhelm, relationship distress, intimacy issues, performance fears, transitions and trauma.
Psychotherapy is about change. I work grounded in the belief that we have innate resources for thriving and ease that become concealed or underdeveloped. It is my role to help you understand your fundamental needs, history and challenges so you can realign with your strengths and wisdom; while uncovering whats blocking these resources. I work in a straightforward, compassionate and collaborative way to help you integrate thinking, feeling and intuition. The focus of my style is helping you become more confident and knowledgeable about yourself, your mind and relationships; while offering you the tools and guidance to do that.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
