I'm qualified to help with many challenges; however, I specialize in using trauma-informed techniques like somatic therapy, EMDR, & IFS to help with CPTSD, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and grief.
Feeling overwhelmed? Are you struggling to change? Do you know in your mind what you need to do but can't seem to change your pattern? Are you struggling to focus, stay present, or be productive? Maybe little things feel more frustrating, tense, or stressful than usual. Sometimes, we aren't sure what causes our distress, but we can sense we're not reaching our potential for health, happiness, or success. Even when we know the cause, change can still feel impossible. That's where I come in. My job is to listen without judgment, help you understand the root causes of your issues, and teach you practical tools to change your life.

I and my team specialize in working with adults, teens, and children who are struggling with overwhelming anxiety and fears as well as OCD, tics, and hair-pulling/ skin picking.
Are you or your child struggling with overwhelming worries and fears that seem to be present no matter what you do? Maybe it started off small, but the problems have just grown over time until they are starting to take over your daily life. You may find yourself doing different little things to try to manage the worry or reassure yourself, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Maybe you have even tried therapy before but have had difficulty finding someone who really seems to get you and understand what you need. If this sounds like you or your family, we are here to help.

Are you struggling with identity? Feeling worthless or like an imposter? Are you snapping at loved ones over little things? Or repeating relationships, patterns, or situations, and wishing you could break the cycle? Sometimes, we aren't sure what causes our distress, but we can sense we're not reaching our potential for health, happiness, or success. That's where I come in. My job is to listen, help you understand the root causes of your issues, break unwanted patterns, and teach you practical tools to change your life. I am a licensed doctor of clinical psychology (Ph.D. from USC), working in SCV for over 30 years. I love people and it has always been my dream to help them achieve the ability to handle their lives in the most satisfying way. We are all human. We all have our own struggles. We experience depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions, or simply difficult transitions in life. It is important to know that no one is forever "sick," no relationship ever "broken," or anyone for that matter who is beyond repair. Together, I will work with you (or your loved one) through the issues that have brought you into therapy.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
