Things often happen in life that are out of our control, so having a space where you can safely share those experiences and feelings, tell your story to be heard, and get the support you need to overcome those hard times. For children this can be even hard because they often do not understand what happened to them, they just know they feel different and now respond differently. Children need someone who can meet them where they are and help them regain confidence and find ways to cope with and make sense of the trauma they experienced. Children, like others, want to be heard and validated in their experiences and feelings.
I have extensive training in experiential play therapy with children from trauma backgrounds, but this technique can be used with all children. I also use Child-Center Play Therapy. I have experience working with a wide range of diagnoses and ages as well. Play therapy is not offered via telehealth.
I believe through strong therapeutic relationships with clients builds a strong foundation to help clients become empowered to change, grow, and heal. We all have things we go through and being able to sort through them without someone judging you but rather showing care and genuine compassion goes a long way.
