As a Marriage and Family Therapist in both a special education setting, and privately owned practice, I have accumulated over 25 years of understanding. Whether the therapeutic intervention involves an adult, child, adolescent, family, or couple, I believe that every participant should be afforded an opportunity to experience a secure and trusting alliance. This means that each client is unconditionally accepted with the belief that he or she has the capacity to achieve those goals which will contribute to an elevated sense of well being.
By adopting a client-centered counseling approach, I function as a facilitator of emotional growth, while providing an available source of support. My treatment of psychological disturbances and childhood behavioral disorders has taught me that children are not persons to be rigidly molded, but rather unique individuals to be respectfully unfolded.
I also established an Intramural Athletic Program for special needs students. The unification of sport and psychology had as its foundation, The Six Pillars of Character, and as its heart, a therapeutic orientation which insured that each child, regardless of skill level, would experience an essential (esteem enhancing) sense of belonging.
