Putting thoughts and emotions into words can have surprising and powerful results. There is a freedom in saying out loud what we have withheld or only said or ourselves. We begin to see our world from new perspectives, develop new ways of being in the world, and begin to make new choices. The purpose of a therapist is to be the person in your life undergoing this process with you, as a companion and guide. This is how I understand my work.
I see patients from a variety of backgrounds and diverse struggles. I have experience with the LGBTQ+ community, college students, artists, and a various professions. Through my years of practice I've worked with depression, anxiety, psychotic symptoms, stress and body dysmorphia, in addition to other issues.
There are so many reasons to come to therapy. Everyone comes with some idea or purpose. What brings you here we will work together to create the right environment for you. There are many ways we talk about our psychological difficulty—anxiety, depression to name a couple—but what matters is the desire to talk. Everything else will follow.
