We heal in connection with others. We grow into ourselves by being heard. That's the whole idea behind how I do therapy. That can involve skills work from various evidence-based models such as DBT, ACT, and internal family systems. It can also look like getting your body moving in nature. Or sometimes just talking; getting stuff out. In my work, I look to treat the whole person and make sure, first of all that you are understood and known. From there we figure out what you need to keep walking forward on what can be a really confusing and difficult path. We will work to make sure you're headed the direction you want to be.
I work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, lost sense of self, personality disorders, substance use, men's issues, anger management, family systems issues, and communication needs. I use principles from various schools of thought to help my clients build workable strategies for getting to where they want to be.
Psychologist Steven Hayes is fond of explaining that a human life is not a problem to be solved but something to be experienced and lived. The goal is not necessarily to help you feel better, but to help you do a better job of feeling and experiencing your life. If that sounds like something you would like for yourself, I believe we may be a good fit.
