In today’s world people are struggling more than ever with depression and anxiety and other mental health disorders. It is imperative to find a therapist that is knowledgeable, empathetic and non-judgmental- I feel that I meet that criteria. I have been working in the mental health field for more than 15 years. I work with adults 18 and up who have been dealing with depression, mood disorders, trauma and substance use. I utilize a strength-based approach to therapy which provides clients with a sense of empowerment. I have a lot of experience working with co-occurring disorders and work closely with medication prescribers.
I have extensive experience treating trauma victims and have successfully utilized Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) with many. EMDR is an evidence based treatment that has been widely used with veterans and first responders. I am an EMDRIA certified therapist. I am licensed in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
EMDR has been used for trauma, but it has also been quite effective for those struggling with anxiety and depressive symptoms. I have also been trained in CBT and DBT.
