I enjoy working with all kinds of people, because each opens a window on a unique world, new to me. I enjoy the process more when a client is motivated to do the work, but struggles are part of the process for many clients and a challenge to therapists to become better therapists. I don't pathologize and I regard what some therapists call "resistance" as a signal that I need to be doing a better job of remaining open-hearted. Most of us struggle at one time or another, some more than others. I encourage you to call if you or a loved one in your care is struggling and decide whether I may be of assistance.
Most of us are raised with admonitions to deal with it, suck it up, get over it. We are taught about life in the world, but are encouraged to ignore or suppress our inner worlds. Symptoms are our psyche's way of letting us know something needs our attention. I offer you the time and space to foster compassionate awareness of what needs attention within.
I have experience as both client and clinician, because I was the beneficiary of therapy with a gifted therapist earlier in life and continue to do my own inner work with consulting therapists. So, I understand how difficult the work can be, but also how extraordinarily rewarding. I work from a place of compassionate, open-hearted curiosity with clients.
