Asking for support can be difficult and intimidating. It’s important to find the right fit between client and therapist. I create a therapeutic environment that is client directed and immediately focuses on the goals that you want to achieve. My agenda is YOUR agenda, and we will move at the pace you desire! I believe everyone’s life is just that… their life and no one else’s. While we often cannot control the cards we are dealt, we can learn to determine and control how we respond to them and what decisions we make with them.

My approach to therapy centers warmth and support, fostering an environment where you can process life stressors and work towards improvement. Self-esteem, depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, and other serious mental health symptoms can hinder our growth. Learning how to cope with obstacles can enhance our stability and peace.

Most of us have negative beliefs about ourselves and that are not serving us, but we continue to feed into these messages. Something as simple as saying that we are not good enough can have big consequences in our lives. Now think about how often we might say that... it is usually often more than we want to admit. We need to learn to overcome our own negative self-talk by fostering, strong healthy connections with those who we feel safe with. We all want to feel good in life, and this looks different for each person.

I enjoy helping people get along with each other - with their spouses, parents, children, friends, coworkers. Relationships are often complicated by issues from the past, and I work at a deep level to address present day and past issues. I like to help heal individuals who have been traumatized recently or in the past. My approach is love based, and focused on reducing stress and healing fears. I focus more on healing which leads to permanent change than on temporary behavioral change, and I integrate the most recent brain research. I also honor and integrate my patients' spiritual beliefs and values into the therapy.

I counsel individuals from all age groups. I have a client-centered eclectic counseling style focused on self-empowerment, healing, and growth. I acknowledge each person has individual experiences and needs; therefore, no therapy tool works for all clients. My experience, education, and empathy allow me to accept clients where they are and meet their unique needs. I strive to cultivate connection, non-judgment, and open-mindedness with each client I meet. When appropriate I may share related wisdom and experience; it's important to me that you know you're not alone on your journey.

When you decide to come to therapy, you get to be vulnerable and explore the fears and tough feelings that you worry you cannot reveal to the people you love. I understand the need to be vulnerable and have worked to create a safe place for those exploring their fears and feelings. I have a drive for helping individuals, couples, and families discover their self-worth and by assisting those who are determined to overcome life’s most challenging moments; I believe that everyone can heal, grow, and change if the desire is present. It will take time and dedication, but real change is possible.

Diversity and cultural competence is extremely important to me, and I take remarkable care and consideration in offering acceptance and awareness in working with teen and adult clientele of all different social backgrounds, abilities, spiritual beliefs, gender identities, neuro-diversities, and sexual preferences. I practice from an integrative and eclectic position with an emphasis on the humanistic and cognitive-behavioral perspective - which means that I take a very non-judgmental and accepting approach, prioritizing treating the whole person within their own individual uniqueness.

“I don't feel like I have anything to look forward to.” “I will never get over this breakup.” “I feel like nobody gets me.” “I think I'm past something, then I overreact.” “I spend most of my time worrying or avoiding." Do any of these resonate with you? We all struggle with difficult circumstances, thoughts and emotions at some point. Most times we can move through these but sometimes we get stuck. This does not mean we are broken, bad, or unloveable; although it can certainly feel that way. You are not alone! There is hope for a satisfying life. Having the courage to ask for help can be the first step toward positive change.

Are you feeling stuck, depressed, or coping with trauma? Are you struggling to find the words that you feel, and when you do speak it’s misunderstood and not taken the way you meant it, but it still feels like people are walking all over you? Have you experienced sexual assault and don't feel like you can share your experience with anyone because you're afraid of judgment? Trauma can make us feel alone, misunderstood, and overwhelmed. It can take a toll on us and our ability to connect in relationships when we don't know how to deal with these emotions. -now offering EMDR

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.
