I am interested in helping individuals who not only have specific problems such as anxiety, depression, substance use, and self-harm behaviors but are also looking to build on their strengths to not only reduce their identified problem but also to increase their capacity for joy. I have a perspective of being "relentlessly hopeful", but also understand that change comes with awareness, time and practice.
I have over 30 years of practice in behavioral health with experience in Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT) and other evidenced based practices. I am developing a clinical pathway for anxiety that has specific and timed interventions and skills to reduce anxiety. I am working on a similar pathways for Depression and anger.
I believe in using multiple techniques to aid awareness and understanding. I believe in a "practical" approach that includes teaching people what they need to do to be successful. My approach includes homework assignments to increase skill development and use.
