Hello there! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over ten years of experience. My main areas of specialty are treating children, trauma and parenting. I have certifications in Child Parent Psychotherapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Circle of Security Parenting. Both Child Parent Psychotherapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are top rated evidence based treatments for children who have experienced trauma. Trauma could include many things such as child abuse or neglect, death of a parent, witnessing domestic violence or any number of other scary events that can occur for children.
When working with Children I often utilize therapeutic play and am trained in Play Therapy. Much of my work involves not only working with the child, but involving the caregiver in the therapy process as well. Involving caregivers in an essential factor in helping children achieve long-term symptom relief.
