All too often relationships end as a result of one (or both) partners using a pattern of controlling behaviors which can escalate into abuse. Although typically attributed to men, these behaviors can also be seen in women and adolescents. Controlling behaviors may take the form of aggression, physical/verbal abuse or intimidation. After 22 yrs of working in this field, my area of focus has been working with clients struggling with inappropriate conduct and toxic relationships. Specifically, interpersonal communication, issues of control and trust. I can help motivated individuals to increase their conscious awareness of emotional triggers and patterns of self-sabotage.
Based on my own personal experience I can relate to the perpetrator, as well as a victim of controlling behaviors. My success in working with diverse clients has been to help them develop an emotional vocabulary, better manage how they react and take full responsibility for their actions..
