My approach to therapy is rooted in the view that we are all, at the deepest level, whole and complete; we all have wisdom, love, compassion, and the capacity for connection within us. My job as a therapist is not to fix or to change anyone—it is to help and support you in connecting with your own knowing, power, and ability to grow and meet your goals. I work with adults and older teens seeking assistance with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and identity development and change.
My primary training is in Internal Family Systems, an approach that helps us understand, reconcile, and heal parts of ourselves that may be wounded or in conflict. I also draw on other experiential therapies and mindfulness. These approaches help us to get beneath our familiar narratives and find the roots of our hurt and distress so that they can be healed.
Therapy can be deeply meaningful and transformative, and also incredibly vulnerable. It's important to me that you feel comfortable and like we're a good fit, so I often suggest a free, informal phone call where I can get to know you, and you can ask any questions you might have prior to a first visit. I look forward to working with you!
