I am a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist in the Heights for 20+ years, trained in cognitive-behavioral & psycho-dynamic approaches. If a deeper understanding of a problem is desired, a psycho-dynamic approach focuses on understanding past family and relationships and patterns allowing for self-growth. In practical issues of changing behavior and/or learning a new approach, a cognitive behavioral approach assesses desired behavior changes, obstacles and strengths to obtain goals. In both approaches, I ask questions in a safe and cooperative style that allows for new perspectives and growth. This is especially helpful in couples therapy.
I have extensive experience treating relationship concerns, anxiety and depression. I completed a Fellowship at UT on treatment of anxiety. Use of the psycho-dynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches allow for deeper understanding on a more individualized basis. My years of experience allow for a comfortable process across the age span.
I am conveniently located in the Heights area and work with adults and couples. I am very respectful of each individual's autonomy and strive for a more comprehensive understanding of issues in a comfortable environment so that clients can exercise their own best decisions.
