Most parents who reach out to me are seeking help in the following areas: sleep-related issues (bedtime routines, staying in bed); tantrums; communication; relationships with peers and siblings; challenges in school, sports, and other environments; and handling "no" or frustration appropriately. I work with the child to build and strengthen skills, model strategies for parents, and provide a plan for ongoing support throughout the week. The overall goal is to empower families so that, when my time is done, they feel confident in moving forward with effective solutions.
When working with children with an array of ability levels, I realized that sleep issues would commonly surface as an area of difficulty for the family. Because of this I became a Certified Behavioral Sleep Specialist. Often times, that is usually top priority, as a lack of sleep will negatively impact all areas of behavior.
I work with children of varying abilities in all environments AND with all the adults in that child's life—whether it's parents, teachers, counselors, or coaches. I devise a plan (with feedback from the adults involved) and everyone works together to ensure success in all settings.
