People arrive at a therapist's office, having tried their best way of getting along in the world, regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and so forth. A universal reason for seeking help is distress in a primary relationship. In therapy, I help individuals understand how past relationships with parents, siblings and significant others impacts relationship troubles in the here and now. A trusting therapeutic relationship offers an opportunity for exploration of one's own mind at the deepest level - healing, new pathways of relating, greater authenticity, vitality & living a life that's true to one's self.
I worked on a Stanford University inpatient child/adolescent psychiatry unit for 10 years and treated children, adolescents and families who presented with depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, divorce, parent/child conflicts, attachment issues, sexual orientation and identity disorders etc Currently, I treat adolescents , individuals (all ages) and couples
Many college age/young adults are ill prepared to manage life on their own. Identity, study/work focus, self initiative are all vital to the young adult's development. Mastery of these psychological issues in therapy increases potential for success. Transition, illness & loss are key concerns when working with mid aged and older adults.

Groups
Narcissistic Abuse Support Group
Life with a narcissist is nightmarish. Classic signs are grandiosity, lack of empathy, an inflated sense of one’s own importance and an obsession with control. Dreams that the narcissist can change is akin to the statue of liberty rising and walking across the street. Gaslighting, humiliation, parental alienation, boundary violations are tactics a narcissist utilizes to protect a fragile ego and profound sense of shame. This is a closed weekly process group. To start 9/24. Highmark, BC, Medicare and out of pocket are acceptable forms of payment. For more info call (518) 729-0827 or email: bvfreedman@gmail.com Day/time TBD
