My main specialty is adoption and attachment. I was adopted and have reunited with my birth parents and have worked with hundreds of adoptees as well as adoptive parents seeking to understand their child/young adult. I work best with those who are seeking insights into themselves. I can help guide you if you are looking to do some self exploration and find out why you keep repeating the same patterns. I have worked extensively with teens, young adults, and with parents. I have treated many families who are struggling with navigating issues related to family dynamics.

I combine many powerful modalities, including Jungian inner work, neuroscience, fitness, career, and spirituality, but I will carefully tailor my approach to honor your unique needs and possibilities.
Love. Joy. Ecstasy. Awe. In my 18 years of clinical experience, I’ve discovered that we each have far more capacity for these expansive feelings than we often realize. Whether you are contending with many challenges, or feel ready to fly through the stars, I can work with you collaboratively to shape a life that fulfills your highest dreams, and maybe even soars beyond them. I’m eager to share what I’ve learned about our abilities to break out of old patterns of pain, fear, and shame into fruitful creativity and communion with the most inspiring aspects of being alive.

Thank you for making yourself and your relationship a priority. I'm honored to join you in exploring greater compassion, understanding, and connection in your relationship. I strive to provide a comfortable, safe and nurturing setting where your story is heard and your feelings are validated. With me you’ll find no judgment, only compassion. Together we’ll gently unravel the emotions that lie hidden beneath the surface, and understand the complexities of your experiences. We'll create a space where vulnerability becomes safe, communication is comfortable, trust is rebuilt, connections are established and love is strengthened.

I have been a Psychologist for over 50 years, focused on holistic treatment of PTSD/trauma, chronic health issues and headaches / pain. I am mainly a Health Psychologist. I started my career with the US Air Force. I ran the most successful PTSD recovery program in the military (2008-15). In the PTSD Clinic, our results showed that PTSD recovery can be possible. I use Neurofeedback to relieve the headaches, memory problems and mental slowing from TBI events. I also do IME evaluations for Veterans. I rarely accept VA coverage (TriWest) and require a referral. I am a Medicare provider.

I've been an Arizona licensed Psychologist since 1988. After practicing for 22 years in Flagstaff, Arizona, my wife and I relocated our primary residence to Yavapai County in 2009. My private practice office is located in Prescott and I specialize in "mature adult" psychotherapy. I work with many issues including those related to aging, grief/loss, adjustment to health changes, care giver support, and others. My practice has been full since 2020, and I do not keep a waiting list. But, feel free to call to see if any new patient slots have opened.

I have formal training and certification in a number of approaches to therapy: Analytical Psychotherapy ( Jungian ), Cognitive - Behavior Therapy ( Mood and Anxiety Disorders ), Experiential and Hu manistic Therapy ( Focusing and Person Centered ) and Art Psychotherapy.
The word 'therapy' comes from the Greek word 'theraps' meaning, an attendant. The prefix 'psycho' comes from the Greek word 'psyche" meaning, soul or spirit. A good therapist attends or listens to the soul, spirit and innermost voice of the client or patient. Having worked in the mental health field over the past 50 years, I have learned and developed a variety of approaches to listen to and attend to that part of each individual that has the potential to bring about understanding and healing from the deep psyche within. Couples counseling involves teaching/coaching empathic listening skills, utilizing "Interactive Focusing" .

Finding a good therapist is really hard. And even if you find a good one there still might be personality issues or incompatibilities. To be honest, there's not a lot that can be done about this, compatibility issues are real and finding something that works is hard. What I can tell you is that I am a good therapist, I strike a balance between active listening, and giving coaching and clarification of issues when you're stuck spinning in your own head. I practice a non-judgmental approach which means I can call you out without introducing shame or guilt.
