I am an EMDR therapist and provide counseling and support for Trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders; all done through a trauma-informed lens.
Hope and happiness are achievable by improving your mental health and well-being. I provide therapy to the “whole” person with support, validation, non-judgment, guidance, and compassion. My breadth of knowledge consists of trauma-informed care using different approaches to customize your experience and healing journey. It takes a lot of courage and vulnerability to ask for help. I provide a safe space to talk about your struggles and challenges and I welcome vulnerability and the processing of emotions. I equate vulnerability as a strength, not a weakness.

Are you suffering from past trauma? Is your past traumatic experience or experiences intruding and effecting your "here and now?" Are you anxious, on "high alert" and avoiding? Are you having difficulty concentrating and putting yourself down? Do you feel stuck and alone? Looking for a counselor and thinking about participating in counseling can be scary and overwhelming, but the counseling experience can be rewarding and even life changing. I have significant experience supporting individuals in overcoming trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and grief and loss.

My focus is on the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma, stress and relationship issues.
At one time or another we all face challenges in our lives. Some of these issues may become to complex for us to handle on our own. It may feel like these struggles and life challenges may never go away. And the past can feel like the present. However, things can get better and the difficulties you are currently struggling with can resolve with therapy. Seeking counseling may be the first step towards restoring peace and happiness back in your life. It is important to find the right therapist for you. I am committed to helping you achieve your goals and support you throughout your journey.

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I utilize a body-oriented approach to assist with healing trauma and other stress-based disorders.
Times are increasingly charged, and I would love to be of support. My approach is respectful, creative, and evidence-based. I view my clients as equals and see myself as a collaborator rather than a clinically-distanced authority figure. I am grateful to serve many clients with a diversity of backgrounds.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
