Hello! I have worked extensively in the behavioral health field for over ten years and have a passion for serving this community. I have worked with a range of populations varying from adults with serious mental illness to general mental health counseling with adults, children, couples, and families. I have experience treating issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, as well as a wide variety of other mental health issues. I want to continue working with diverse populations to better support our marginalized groups to ensure culturally competent care for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

In my role, I provide the compassionate space for you to begin self-reflection and explore ways to initiate changes in your life. The therapy relationship becomes the safe, working model to practice communication. Part of my style is helping you embrace uncertainty in the transformation process, clarify your values, and explore your relationship with your thoughts, emotions, and body.

Whether I am working with a small child or an adult, I believe that the healing process is a journey of returning home to the authentic self with the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle supporting the exploration. My name is Kayla and I hope to walk along with you on this path, offering compassion, co-regulation, and some neuroscience education along the way. When we can lean into the understanding of our own neurobiology and how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors have come to be, we may also begin to explore where we may have gotten stuck and how we can have a renewed access to the wisdom and assets that our bodies possess.

I recognize that there are many difficulties that a person may go through in their lives, whether they be related to relationships, anxiety, trauma, or other life stressors. I believe that with the help of therapy these difficulties can become lessened, and you can learn the skills needed to live a more fulfilled life. I work with people from diverse backgrounds and consider myself a member of the queer community. I believe that it is important to create a safe space for all people to seek to help without fear of judgement.

Predominantly featured throughout my experiences has been an emphasis on the value of multicultural competency and a deep exploration of the relationship between identity and health. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, certified as a Personal Trainer by NASM, certified as a Sex Coach and Sexologist, and am a member of WPATH.
