I have been working in the mental health field for the past 20+ years after graduating with my Masters degree from New York University in 2004. I completed a 4 year post graduate program at the "Ackerman Institute for the Family", specializing my work in couples and family work. During my years of work and training, I was able to see a wide range of clients including children, adolescents and adults using several treatment modalities. Welcome! I'm Jason, and I specialize in working with men and couples. My practice, Phoenix Men's Counseling, helps work with men just like you (or your husband, partner, or relative) with the issues that guys struggle with most, such as stress, depression, cheating, marriage/relationship issues, "nice guy" syndrome (guys who have a hard time saying 'no'), anger, and emotional intimacy, among others. As a guy, I know what men deal with, and work to create a counseling environment that men can relate to, feel heard and find new solutions to their problems. I have 20 years experience working with men.

My approach in therapy is to respect each individual as a whole person. I believe each person knows himself or herself best. Rather than just treating the symptom(s), I attempt to get to know the person well enough to guide them into insights of the CAUSES of their problems. My ultimate goal is to help each individual achieve the healthiest level of well-being and highest developmental level of functioning. Whenever appropriate, I work with multiple members of the same family in order to strengthen the family and/or marriage.

In my practice, I provide the necessary emotional environment that is conducive to healing and use the most advanced proven therapeutic tools for my clients. I believe that any adverse life event can overwhelm the normal adaptive capacity of any person at any age. Untreated, it can lead to the development of dysfunctional behaviors, feelings, and thoughts, such as depression, anxiety, obsession, negative self-talk, low self esteem, procrastination, PTSD, anger & relationship issues, among others. I also believe that everyone has the innate healing capacity to overcome these issues with the help of an experienced professional.
