I specialize in helping people identify the deeper root of their anxiety and relationship stress through EMDR Intensive sessions. You had a painful experience & who you were & how you saw the world - just aren’t the same anymore. You feel lost, angry, & afraid. Maybe you experienced a divorce, trauma, got a medical diagnosis, or lost someone (or something) that you love. Maybe it happened suddenly without any warning or maybe the fact that you knew it was coming, made it feel even worse. You need someone who understands & can help you put the pieces of your life back together. You want to feel whole and hopeful.

You already go to weekly therapy and you feel stuck. You feel alone, your friends and family care, but they don’t understand or know how to help. You want to experience deep therapeutic work that can change your life. Instead of waiting months or years, you can get the same results in a few days with EMDR Intensives. You want to feel whole again. Maybe its not about a “trauma”, but pervasively feeling not good enough, it's all my fault, I have to be responsible for everything and everybody, professionally like an Imposter, or avoiding making necessary changes in your business and relationships.

Have you grown concerned for yourself or your son? It could be anxiety...or depression...or isolation...or maybe you aren't exactly sure and are looking for an expert's second opinion. I specialize in working with guys high school age and older. Oftentimes the clients who come to see me are coming to therapy for the first time and don't exactly know what to expect. Or they have done therapy in the past but didn't find it to be that helpful because all their previous therapist did was let them talk for an hour each week.

I provide EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Evening and Weekend availability only. Are you struggling but you have no idea why? Unfortunately, many people who deal with mental health problems never receive an appropriate diagnosis and thus can be treated incorrectly. Too many times people come to me with a diagnosis of anxiety or depression, when in fact they are dealing with something else like PTSD or OCD. As a psychologist, I am trained to provide a comprehensive psychological evaluation to accurately determine what you are dealing with so we can treat it appropriately. If you want to make sure you are receiving the right treatment for the right issue I can help.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
