Mariposa Counseling LLC. was founded in 2019 to help fill the need for counseling services in the Prescott area. The company is managed by Adam Rogers, a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor with a graduate degree in addiction counseling. Mariposa Counseling LLC. (MCL) serves the needs of men and women living in Prescott, Arizona and neighboring towns. Mariposa Counseling strives to help people find and keep healthy attitudes and behavior. As an accomplished therapist with 20 years in practice, I offer a safe, nurturing environment for healing. Stress, feelings of inadequacy, anxiety or depression are frequent sources of discouragement and suffering. Every individual is unique, with their own strengths and difficulties. In counseling, some clients have concrete goals. Others may feel confused and overwhelmed, unsure of how to find greater contentment in their lives. Individuals and couples come to me to identify and overcome obstacles to a better life. My empathy and non-judgmental listening will help you navigate a path to attainable goals.

It seems that our greatest growth happens during times of pain, confusion, and disappointment. It is my goal as a counselor to help individuals and couples walk through the pain and confusion they are experiencing in order to have more freedom in their lives and relationships. I do come from a Christian perspective and can incorporate different aspects of faith into the healing process for those who are interested.

Sometimes old patterns, trauma, difficult relationships, or unexpected life changes make that process difficult and can obstruct the path forward. My goal as your therapist is to help you decide what change looks like for you and to walk that path with you.

I believe human potential holds no bounds. That said, we are often constrained by our own self-limiting beliefs, and the resulting patterns of behavior can hinder personal growth. Self-defeating beliefs and narratives are frequently accompanied by a variety of negative responses, such as; anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, etc. As Henry Ford famously said, “Whether you believe you can or believe you can't...you're right". Together we will help you realize the former. I work with clients holistically, utilizing EMDR, CBT, mindfulness and other modalities, I am also able to provide Christian counseling.

I have expanded my hours to accept new clients. In these uneasy times, many people find they are struggling more than ever. They are experiencing anxiety, depression, and overall stress. This leads to loss of focus and unhealthy behaviors such as increased substance use. My goal is to help you improve your life as quickly as possible and maintain your progress. This is achieved through an integrative approach which includes research-based interventions such as neurofeedback, and many others. The therapeutic relationship is important. I believe everyone has the capacity to live fulfilling lives and cultivate deep and meaningful relationships with others. However, sometimes challenges from our present or past arise in ways that interfere with our ability to be our fullest selves. My hope is to help you identify and shift what feels like it is blocking you from living and loving yourself and others the way you want to. When we hurt in relationship, it is important to also begin to heal in relationship. My hope is that the therapeutic relationship can be a place for your healing to begin.

If you struggle with addiction issues and related poor expression of anger and poor autonomic nervous sytem health and function, we may be a good fit. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of San Diego in Business Administration and my Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). I encourage clients to achieve and maintain a proper recovery life balance . I am a big believer in “Living in Integrity” to help clients build self-esteem.

Philip is a Licensed Associate Counselor with a passion for working with individuals, couples, and families who have been impacted by substance use disorders and process addictions. He also specializes in a wide range of mental and behavioral health issues including but not limited to the treatment of anger management related issues, trauma and dissociative disorders, anxiety, depression, and self esteem related problems.

Although I have worked with diverse populations, I gravitate toward the family systems approach and feel that a family’s distress is not attributable to just one person, but rather a combination of interactions of individual members within that “system.” I have been using Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples and individuals. Recently, I have decided to open my own practice. My focus will continue to be EFT as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help address the many clients who come to the therapy session with backgrounds in trauma.

Enhancement of emotional wellness and fitness is the focus of my practice. I get motivated developing strategies to improve emotion/mood regulation, improved performance, life management, and positive adjustments to transitions in life. Good thought management and effective emotion regulation leads to better decision making and that leads to a confident, self assured outlook on life. I am licensed as a professional counselor in both Missouri and Kansas.

Music has been used as a transformative to tool for thousands of years and has now been proven to be an effective treatment modality for many of life's challenges while promoting wellness for all ages. At Music Therapy Expressions we use this tool in developing unique musical experiences to address your specific goals and needs. Your "sound", "story", and "song" are important and are validated through the belief that we all have the capacity to understand and heal ourselves. No musical experience or instrument is required. Sessions may include listening to music, discussion of lyrics, song writing, singing, or instrumental play.
