I specialize in men's issues, sports performance and relationship issues.
Are you feeling stuck, angry, hopeless, or numb? You’ve made attempts for progress and it doesn’t seem like you’re getting anywhere. Maybe you thought you would be further along in your career, or with your relationships, or just life in general. You might notice growing resentment towards the people in your life and feel annoyed listening to their complaints. What do they have to complain about?

Specifically, I work with athletes on their relationship with food in relation to sports performance.
Daily stressors are inevitable, and it is essential to build coping strategies for how to manage stress and combat negative thinking patterns. Creating behavior changes is a focal point of psychotherapy and beneficial in wanting a sense of structure and consistency in one's relationships and overall life. My overall goal for each client is to work on obtaining balance within their own healthy lifestyle. Through obtaining balance one's past and present symptoms can lessen and each individual and/or couple can focus on the positive attributes of their life and move forward towards reaching their goals and the life worth living.

My coaching eliminates mind games in sports and life.
My coaching improves confidence, focus, composure, resiliency, trust, and overall mental toughness. All performers want to perform confidently, control emotions, perform fearlessly, perform best in competition, embrace competition. I start with a comprehensive assessment then I create a custom game plan for our sessions. My clients want to perform at their best - freely - without mind games. My programs help athletes, coaches, youth athlete parents and performers from all disciplines (dance, theater, public speaking).

As a former professional athlete, and officer in the Romanian Intelligence Service, I focused on sports psychology and overcoming trauma, self-doubt, and performance anxiety.
Painful experiences often lead us to put up defenses to prevent from falling into overwhelming emotions. These defenses might be perfectionism, escapism, anger towards those close to us, or entering into unhealthy relationships. However doing so disconnects us from ourselves and from the people around us often resulting in experiences of loneliness, shame, anxiety, and depression.

I want to make sure that the client and I are a fit when it comes to rapport. That looks like feeling comfortable sharing content that might cause uncomfortableness due to fearing judgment. If established in the first meeting, I feel confident in working with those with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, family conflicts, grief, and performance issues in school, sports, or career (to name a few). I believe the treatment models that I use can build their resilience to deal with past, current, and future challenges.

Are your relationships becoming increasingly more challenging to navigate? Sometimes, our emotions get the best of us and we lash out at the people we love or recluse from them. Either way, it feels like a perpetual cycle. This can happen in our parenting, romantic relationships, and our work. Maybe you've talked with some close friends or even read up to try and find a solution, but you haven't found the missing piece to the puzzle.

Focusing on peak performance and maximizing functioning leads to happiness, feeling content, and reduced negative self-impressions. Regardless of whether your performing in athletics, the arts, medicine, or human interaction, it is important to recognize both what is working to optimize performance (building consistency) and what is holding you back (mitigating challenges and overcoming difficulties). Focusing on the core competencies of self-awareness (knowing what is going on in your mind and performance) and self-management (how to take control of your true potential through mindset, behavior, and engagement) goals are realized.

Sports Performance Therapists

How does sports psychology work?

Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?

The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?

Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?

Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
