Since earning a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling in 2010, I've held clinical positions ranging from residential primary therapist to clinical director, eventually transitioning to private practice.

My approach in therapy is to respect each individual as a whole person. I believe each person knows himself or herself best. Rather than just treating the symptom(s), I attempt to get to know the person well enough to guide them into insights of the CAUSES of their problems. My ultimate goal is to help each individual achieve the healthiest level of well-being and highest developmental level of functioning. Whenever appropriate, I work with multiple members of the same family in order to strengthen the family and/or marriage.

I am a PA who has been practicing since 2013. While I have a strong background in family medicine, my passion lies with focusing on the emotional wellness of a person. I am a Phoenix-based forensic psychologist with extensive experience in forensic evaluations of adolescents and adults at all stages of criminal and divorce proceedings as well as child abuse and neglect cases. I have provided consultation, diagnostic assessments, forensic psychological assessments, and expert testimony for both prosecution and defense. I am also a court-appointed evaluator for the Superior Court of Arizona, Maricopa County.

The ideal client is transparent, communicative, self-motivated for therapy, can identify their own goals and reasons for change, and willing to do the work inside and outside of sessions consistently. When we focus on what we can control, we have more opportunities to set realistic expectations, and when we set realistic expectations, we are more likely to execute and feel successful. Alex Levitan is the lead Psychologist and Clinical Director of Levitan & Associates Psychological Services where he is responsible for organizing and overseeing all providers and programs within the agency.
