I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, experiential, and solution focused.
Are you tired of surviving and ready to start living again? I have worked with many teens and adults who come in with their head barely above water trying to survive day to day. With the many stressors in life these days, people often lose sight of the positive things happening around them even if they are few and far between. I am here to help you see the positive again. I provide a safe environment to guide my clients through these difficult times, develop healthier coping skills and feel empowered again.

Hey there! How is your healing journey treating you? Is it like one of those rollercoasters that drops you from thousands of feet in the air, spins you in circles, and makes you want to scream or throw up? Is it like stepping on a Lego piece that appears out of nowhere? Is it like an annoying hiccup that just won’t stop to let you take in a deep breath? Or is it kind of lonely and you’re wanting to talk to someone? Everyone experiences struggles in different ways, and I just want you to know that it takes strength to be vulnerable and reach out for help. I see you and I am here for you.

Have you ever felt like you wanted more out of life, but you weren’t sure where to start? You find yourself engaging in familiar and ineffective patterns, but aren’t sure how to break free? Choosing therapy as a mode to find your way is a courageous decision you can make toward transformation, in a way that feels authentic and tailor-made for you. Seeking therapy does not have to mean there is something “wrong” with you, only that you need a safe and accepting place to make sense of difficult emotions, painful experiences, and to create tools to make lasting change. **Currently, all sessions with me are Telehealth only**

I enjoy helping people move through difficult phases of life (such as young adult, new parents, empty nesters, midlife, retirement, disabling event, and loss). Events in our past can continue to show up and affect us in the present making us feel stuck. Sometimes we repeat patterns and don't understand why. I offer a safe space where you can comfortably explore your feelings and obtain tangible strategies designed to help facilitate growth.

Solution Focused Brief (SFBT) Therapists

How does solution-focused therapy work?

The treatment works by helping a client notice which behaviors and thoughts have positive results on their lives and building a plan around how to maximise these strengths. Practitioners of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) believe that individuals already have the experience, wisdom, and resilience to create change in their lives, but may need a guide to help them realise which changes to make and how to make them.

Is solution-focused brief therapy evidence-based?

Yes. Solution-focused brief therapy has been extensively studied, and researchers find strong evidence that it’s an effective treatment for many behavioral and psychological concerns. This may be due to the uplifting nature and practicality of the treatment, which allows patients to employ strategies to reach their goals that are incremental and achievable.

How long does solution-focused brief therapy last?

Solution-focused brief therapy, as the name implies, is brief. The timeline may vary from person to person, given the challenges they face and their situation in life, but treatment is typically complete within four to eight sessions. This therapy type is a pragmatic one: it’s concerned more with “how” problems can be addressed and improved than getting to the root of “why” they exist in the first place.

Is solution-focused brief therapy a type of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Solution-focused brief therapy is related to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)in that both are pragmatic approaches that deal less with gaining a full understanding of the cause of a mental health problem and more with creating plans for how to cope with these problems and improve an individual’s day-to-day life. They are distinct, however, in that SFBT emphasises building on strengths and resources, while CBT focuses on changing negative thoughts and behaviors.
