I work with individual adults with a variety of problems in living and believe in intermittent therapy throughout the life course. If you're looking to enhance your self-esteem and self-kindness, learning to be assertive, or wanting to be seen for who you really are - and knowing yourself who this is, I am here to support you. My private practice is small and focused on people coping with anxiety, chronic illness including chronic pain, and depression. It's not easy being a human, and you don't have to go it alone. If you are motivated to better manage life's challenges, I look forward to hearing from you.

Could you imagine what it would be like no longer having intrusive upsetting thoughts, no more second guessing if you are making the right decision and being able to sleep through an entire night? I use short term therapy techniques to help clients reduce anxiety symptoms within 4- 6 months on average.
If anxiety has been part of your life for as long as you can remember and you want to lean how to manage it, I may be a good fit for you. Are you feeling overwhelmed and unable to stop the worries in your head? Experiencing panic attacks that leave you worried about the next time one happens. Do you stay up at night worried about everything from your job to your relationships? Do intrusive thoughts keep you repeating behaviors and patterns that you want to stop or that interfere with your daily life?

Life can be difficult and there are so many things that happen to us that are out of our control when things happen externally it affects us in a negative way internally. Sometimes it may not even be our circumstances but our thoughts and negative distortions that have manifested over the years and are causing us extreme distress and an inability to be able to cope with everyday life. When this becomes our reality we often feel powerless to change. I have a passion to walk alongside individuals to offer support and encouragement by creating a safe space where you feel heard and valued.

If life has felt more stressful and exhausting, know that you’re not alone. Many people are feeling disempowered, hopeless, overwhelmed, and have no idea how to pick themselves up every day and continue the basic tasks of living. Negative thoughts, feelings, and memories are natural parts of being a human being, but they don’t have to control your life or take away from the things that matter the most to you. I believe that having a space to explore your feelings in an open, non-judgmental environment can relieve some of the pressure and make it possible to invest time and effort into building a better life and a better world.

I am the best fit for a family who has children between the ages from birth to 24 years old. I offer support to families who are struggling with challenging behaviors from their children and adolescents in home or at school. I offer a unique systemic approach that includes parents in the treatment process that is not found in many other practices. This systemic approach is extremely affective and helps keep parents in the loop and helps families complete the treatment goal faster than other approaches. As I believe therapy for children should be brief and solution focused so they can get back to being a kid.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
