If you find yourself struggling, feeling overwhelmed or experiencing painful emotions in your everyday life or perhaps experiencing triggers from past trauma, I work with people like you, who sometimes get stuck in a cycle of self-defeating behavior in your personal life and relationships. Together we can address your needs of improving your quality of life such as helping you manage stress and anxiety. We would start by creating a collaborative relationship. I facilitate this by doing my best to create a comfortable space where you can share not only your issues, but one that helps shape your ideas for growth and change

I help clients understand the source of their relationship struggles and anxiety, often stemming from attachment and other relational traumas.
Do you find yourself keeping busy so there's no time to think or feel? You might be feeling lost, anxious, and don't know why everything that used to work to feel better isn't now. Maybe it feels like your relationships are suffering even though you're really trying, or like you've never even had a healthy one. You might worry you're "too much" or feel like you can't do anything right. The one thing you’re sure of is you want to feel better, not like you're just surviving another day. You’re ready to feel confident in your relationships and leave behind old patterns holding you back. Most of all, you’re ready to feel good enough.

As a result, I can help you understand and develop more safe and secure connections that will lead to improved mental health and overall well-being that is crucial for healing from the majority of traumas, addictions and relationship issues you might experience in life.
My career in social services has given me the rare opportunity and privilege to accompany others throughout much of life’s journey--from the miracle of birth, as an adoption advocate to helping senior populations and their families as a counsellor managing long term care and end of life issues. One of the universal truths that I have learned is that struggle and adversity is an inescapable part of the human experience. Rather than let these challenges destroy you, my role is to help you on your journey to grow and work through the hardships of life and become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself.

My passions include helping folks who struggle with anxiety, depression, life changes, relationship conflict, or trauma.
One of the bravest things that you can do, is to advocate for yourself. This can also be one of the most challenging things. If you find yourself feeling stuck or in need of support, therapy may be the boost that you need! In my sessions, I aim to create a space that is both comforting and collaborative to facilitate support, validation, and grace. As a client, you are the expert in your life, and with some guidance and support, you are able to achieve the goals that you set out for yourself.

Along with building a meaningful and attuned therapeutic relationship, I use EMDR, EFT, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy to help you heal from trauma and improve your relationships.
Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” I agree! Our stories are a part of who we are, and they shape our experiences. When we share our stories, we can heal from trauma, connect with others, and grow as individuals. I help individuals and couples explore the themes of attachment and connection in their stories, or lack thereof, which are essential to healing and growth. I use an attachment-focused lens to help you understand how your life experiences have shaped your current relationships and sense of self, so you can feel confident in your next chapter because you know the author.

My first priority is to offer a professional, safe, and comfortable environment to explore whatever concerns you may be having and to develop a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship from which to provide therapy. As a former military psychologist (2001-2006), I had very broad and diverse exposure to many mental health conditions. I quickly learned to implement a variety of approaches to address the unique needs of my clients. My aim is to provide treatment tailored specifically to each client. No two people are exactly alike and their therapy shouldn't be either. Above all, I want to help you create lasting change and improvement.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
