I have an understanding of the unique experiences, cultural differences, and challenges members of the minority group face on a daily. My career began in 2007 after developing a passion for mental health and mental development in the community. With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field; I have worked with individuals dealing with various concerns such as racial trauma, identity exploration, discrimination, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, substance dependence, bipolar disorder, self esteem and relationship issues. I believe therapy has a way of helping individuals transform their life and regain purpose.

I work with clients who need help with trauma, PTSD, pet loss, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, feeling burnt out, caregiver burn out, negative self-talk, boundaries, and career changes.
I am a certified, holistic L1, L2 BWRT therapist. Courage and bravery are such an important part of your journey, especially your healing journey. During life we can have our emotions numbed and don’t even realize it. We keep going through life thinking it is “normal” until something breaks us and we realize we need that additional support. It takes immense courage to make that first step and I can help you! Be proud of yourself for making this first step forward for your life! YOU are important and YOU are the only person that will invest in yourself! I have 13 yrs of social work experience, 10 of those yrs working in hospice.

Now as a therapist, I believe my job is to facilitate healing.
Attending California Institute of Integral Studies shaped my holistic approach to therapy: body, heart, mind and spirit. I use a systems approach when working with clients to see and understand how all areas of one’s life might be impacting them today. I have worked with hundreds of men and women over the last 20 years as a successful corporate leader in Human Resources and Organizational Development. In this “first career” I worked to create powerful change for teams in both their personal and professional lives.

I have experience working with those grappling with trauma, grief, substance abuse/addiction, anxiety, depression, boundary setting, and I have a huge heart for those currently going through career and life transitions.
This crazy and challenging time we find ourselves in may seem overwhelming and too much at times. Life is not often fair and comes complete with complex issues. I desire to hear your story and come alongside you to develop the skills necessary to overcome adversity in your life. I employ psychological assessments and depending on the situation different clinical interventions in assisting my clients. I have found success with clients through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy along with dialectical behavior therapy, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, internal family systems, and person-centered approaches.

I find joy in working with adults as they navigate college, career, and relationship issues.
Life provides many challenges such as difficult emotions to manage (anxiety, stress, depression), difficult relationship interactions (family, partner, peers, work), and difficult life transitions (school issues, changes in family dynamics, grief and loss, beginning and ending relationships). During these challenges people often look for hope, relief, or change in order for them to find peace and feel stable in their stage of life. Now more than ever youth and adults need mental health support navigating these challenges. I believe people deserve to have a therapist that provides quality and consistent support.

Have you ever wondered where your concerns for anxiety, depression, stress response, or other experiences of difficulties originated from? I have always been curious about helping others solve these issues, even before pursuing a career in psychology. By guiding you to explore the details of your concerns and examining potential responses and solutions. I aim to help you understand yourself better and take action to achieve your goals or your path to healing. Life is a journey and can get kind of nutty at times with everything that is thrown at us. Let’s explore it together!

We are all different, what affects one person may not be the same for another. Working with adults I utilize three different behavioral approaches. Cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I enjoy taking an active role in helping individuals improve their coping skills, relationship-building skills, and learning how to self-manage. The treatment plan is client-driven and implemented with the assistance of the client and therapist. The overall goal is to have the client take a series of small steps, reinforcing a 'Can do' attitude and build upon the client's ultimate goal of healing.

Career Counseling Therapists

How do I know if I need career counseling?

Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?

The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?

Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
