I work with adult individuals and couples regarding relational conflict, parenting struggles, present or past trauma, depression, coping with life transitions, low self esteem, anxiety, shame, addiction, and spiritual struggles. My approach is client-centered and holistic in view as I believe that each of us present with a rich history of our own unique qualities and experiences that have led to successes as well as challenges..

As an experienced licensed social worker, I am committed to helping you feel better and support you on a path to self-care and healing. With over 17 years of social work experience, I have specialization in trauma as a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focused, and training in trauma-based Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and brainspotting techniques. I recognize that each individual has their own set of needs, and I will partner with you on your own journey to mental health and wellness. I will guide you to work through past traumas with compassion.

I have experience working with adults from various backgrounds, with a focus on emotional distress, anxiety, depression, adjusting to life transitions (i.e. divorce, new baby), trauma (child sexual assault, domestic violence, and war). I utilize a pragmatic eclectic yet holistic approach which integrates empathy, mindfulness, CBT, DBT, Narrative, and EMDR to promote change.

I have over 10 years of experience working with clients with a variety of presenting issues including: anxiety, depression, trauma history, family conflict, parenting concerns, and other various emotional and behavioral challenges. I have also have experience working with Caucasian, Hispanic, and Native American populations .

I have a beautiful office in Mesa, Arizona where I offer in-person sessions as well as telehealth sessions. I have experience working with a variety of mental health needs. Some of my specialties include working with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, substance abuse, and trauma.

As a proponent for positive psychology, Lynell incorporates a strong positive approach to her counseling. Lynell has worked with children in both a school environment and on an individual basis within the family unit. While working at Catholic Charities, Lynell has focused on strengthening the family through her work with Maggie’s Place and couples counseling.
