Couples Counseling Therapists in Maricopa County, AZ
My professional journey as a counselor has allowed me to sit with a range of individuals aged adolescent and adult in community mental health, collegiate athletics, and private practice as well as couples.
Walking alongside others through their challenges and pain is an honor I hold with deep gratitude and humility as a counselor. Counseling creates space for people to explore their complexities and life experiences with openness and self-compassion. I am dedicated to cultivating a safe space for you to embark on the journey of self discovery, while fostering a deeper understanding of yourself and connections with others. While this journey can be daunting, I believe it is one worth taking. I look forward to the opportunity to walk alongside you on your journey, wherever it may lead.

I also work with Eating Disorders and Food Addictions to create a positive relationship with food.
Daily stressors are inevitable, and it is essential to build coping strategies for how to manage stress and combat negative thinking patterns. Creating behavior changes is a focal point of psychotherapy and beneficial in wanting a sense of structure and consistency in one's relationships and daily life. My overall goal for each client is to work on obtaining balance within their own healthy lifestyle. Through obtaining balance one's past and present symptoms can lessen and each individual and/or couple can focus on the positive attributes of their life and move forward towards reaching their goals and the life worth living.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate through various difficult situations and mental health presentations. Clients are assessed, and with them, a unique, meaningful, and strength-based treatment plan is developed. Meeting clients where they are is the number one priority, and through the use of various therapeutic strategies and a healthy and positive therapeutic relationship, clients are encouraged to identify and work through that which prevents them from living an authentic, rewarding, and fulfilling life.

I am a certified facilitator in the evidenced-based Prepare/Enrich couples assessment tool, discovering skills and insights to foster healthy relationships.
Dr. Gabor Mate said, “Trauma is not what happened to you. It’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.” Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, emotional awareness, challenges in relationships, life transitions, grief, or unresolved trauma that affects your ability to live a flourishing life? It could also be that you are living in a shame cycle that perpetuates isolation and suffering. There is hope to be found! We were never meant to do this work alone, and I am here to support you with warmth and deep compassion. I seek to tap into my clients’ natural strengths while equipping them for lasting change.

Most importantly, I believe that promoting a positive and professional relationship can be the foundation for creating significant change.
****I AM CURRENTLY CONDUCTING SESSIONS BY TELEHEALTH ONLY****I believe that you are utilizing the best coping skills you have available at any particular moment. Sometimes, despite best efforts, you might get stuck. You might feel like you have approached a problem area from all angles. Prolonged stress can make matters worse. It is not uncommon for life to feel, "out of balance." My philosophy is to try to re-gain balance. To feel like all parts of your life are in sync. Further, I believe that true happiness is possible once you reach your highest potential.

We have had great success in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and life transitions.
We are not your average therapists! If you're looking for someone to nod their head in agreement with everything you say or for someone to just listen until "time is up," then this is not the place for you. We are an active part of your treatment. We focus on helping people find stability, life satisfaction and self-love. To do this effectively, means we offer insights and feedback, encourage you to dig deeper and challenge you. We're able to do this with care and compassion because we develop a strong therapeutic alliance built on mutual respect and trust. This is the foundation of what we do.

I do this by creating a therapeutic relationship with my clients for “soul witnessing” (as one of my favorite authors describes it).
Attending California Institute of Integral Studies shaped my holistic approach to therapy: body, heart, mind and spirit. I use a systems approach when working with clients to see and understand how all areas of one’s life might be impacting them today. I have worked with hundreds of men and women over the last 20 years as a successful corporate leader in Human Resources and Organizational Development. In this “first career” I worked to create powerful change for teams in both their personal and professional lives.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
