Our main modality is Cognitive behavioral, play and art therapy for children trauma focused treatment, individual and family counseling.
Embracing imperfection accepting the flaws and loving yourself is the essence of our growth as human beings as we strive to live the life we are meant to live. Mindfulness is the human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human possesses and is able to access. However with life sometimes accessing mindfulness is a challenge and the skill is embracing imperfection in order to access those moments of where we are present.

My ideal client is motivated to change, but struggling to find the right path for them. I specialize in life transitions. I work best with an individual that wants to improve their ability to have healthy relationships. This might mean they need to work on figuring out their own needs first. I like to develop a connection and help people learn to change their cognitive filters to help shift their emotional well-being. My clients tell me they feel cared about and appreciate my sense of humor. Some have said they feel like they are talking to a friend that is objective and only has their best interest at heart.

Many messages we carry with us are rooted in shame and distorted thinking and we don't know any other way than this. Her approach is targeted at getting to the root of these shame messages, and with new tools and understanding, there lies an opportunity at healing. It works when we do the work, and she will walk with you as you start a new chapter of healing in your life.

My primary therapeutic modality is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps clients develop effective coping mechanisms and challenge negative thought patterns that may be hindering their recovery.
My ideal client would be any person that is in need of someone to talk to. They want to feel heard and understood. They have an idea of what they would like to talk about and what they would to see for their own future. Even if they are one hundred percent sure what they want, they are willing to talk about it. Also I think that it is important to be open to the idea that therapy can be fun!

I utilize a trauma-informed approach using an array of techniques from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral and Emotion Focused Therapies.
I am delighted that you’re taking this step and would be honored to partner with you on this journey. Many of my clients feel lost in who they’ve become or feel like they’re constantly chasing perfection in their lives. Often my clients wonder why, when they’ve achieved so much, do they still feel sad or unhappy? Together, we work on building insight and self-love while focusing on realistic goals for the future. We explore underlying thoughts that can derail us from living our best lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
