Are you feeling frustrated in close relationships and wondering if it's possible to achieve harmony? Are you hoping to make changes within yourself to create a better life? These positive changes are possible but sometimes the pathway to get there is unclear. I help individuals, couples and families to identify dysfunctional patterns then provide tools to establish new patterns that help create healthier relationships and deepen intimacy. For couples therapy, I utilize an advanced couples therapy approach called EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) which significantly helps the couple to increase and/or establish a securely attached relationship bond.

I am trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Betrayal Trauma.
Mental distress impacts our health and our relationships. Healing comes when we address the roots of what is causing our present mental anguish. When we do not address our issues, we bleed...on us, and on those around us.

I use several evidence-based techniques from approaches such as CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, EFT, Christian-based, Positive Psychology, SFBT, Strength-based, & REBT.
Dealing with life can be stressful, which can lead to anxiety, stress, depression & many other emotions. This can leave us feeling completely overwhelmed, with little hope that things will ever get better, but I know that people are capable of extraordinary things when we open our hearts to having someone present through the journey to self-improvement. As a Christian, I believe we're interconnected & life's journey is to be shared with others. As a hospice caregiver, I witness good people at their very worst times. So, I know there's a need for people to feel heard, seen, valued, respected, encouraged & supported.

Hi, I'm Dan! With over 10 years of experience in the field, I will help you with every resource I’ve gained to date. I’m inquisitive by nature and find joy in getting to know others deeply through the helping process as together we work towards positive change. I’ve learned that nothing is too big or too broken to overcome. My highest value is my relationships with my clients, and I strive to assure my clients feel comfortable and confident.

You’re made it! You’re so courageous beginning your journey toward healing! Are you hurting? Stressed? Want help? I’m very warm, caring, and empathic, ready to help you feel safe, and committed to earning your trust. It’s the “relationship” between the therapist and client that heals, so let’s see if I’m a good fit for you! Clients I see want to take charge of their lives, break old family cycles and patterns, heal old wounds, better trust their “gut instincts,” find out who they are and what they want, and want healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Does this sound like it could be you?

I can help couples feel connected, move through betrayal & hurt, and begin to trust again. I can help you feel joy again and break through the fog. For first responders, whom I love working with, I can help you enjoy the job again and make sense of what you've seen. And for those who love a first responder, I can help you find balance in the midst of the chaos. Anyone who feels lonely, tired, confused, or is simply wanting to make sense of all life has thrown at them, I just might be the right fit.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
