I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.

Stories are one of the primary reasons why I chose to enter this profession and, while I have only been a professional for part of my life, I have been listening to peoples stories for a long time. I believe stories is where our humanity rests and stories display the full range of our complexity and connection as humans.

We are passionate about providing individual, family and group services to adults and children. We are excited to offer providers who are currently enrolled in masters programs for low-cost rates as well as licensed providers who can accept insurance.

I specialize in working with couples & individuals navigating life-altering medical conditions; women overwhelmed in the face of work, family & personal pressure; and couples struggling to create or restore fulfilling connection.

I really enjoy working with marriage/family/parent-child relationships in a safe, non-judgmental way that opens up communication and eases tension/conflict. I have worked with individuals with trauma, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, paranoia, psychosis, suicidal ideations, and homicidal ideations. I have assisted people with overcoming their barriers so they can achieve their life journey.

I have spent 10 years in the mental health field focusing my passions on mediation and conciliation for couples, families, churches, and organizations as well as childhood behavior, transition to young adulthood, and trauma. I am available for faith-affirming and Christ-centered sessions, upon request. I am trained in DBT-Informed services and utilize a strengths-based perspective as well as a solution-focused approach. Joan Dewey (she/her), brings 25 + years of practice experience having worked for many years in rural/remote integrated team settings with indigenous groups. She is licensed to provide psychotherapy (telehealth) in Alaska and Arizona. Ms. Dewey moved from Alaska in 2019, now lives in Northern Arizona, and continues to work with individuals of all ages, life circumstances, including those with histories of traumatic events, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, addictions, and life transitions. She is BIPOC and LGBTQ+ affirming.
