I enjoy working with clients that are looking to incorporate healthy habits into their therapeutic journey. Some tools that have been most effective in supporting my clients are yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, somatic awareness, parts work, exercise and nutrition. However, each client is unique and finding tools that resonate with the individual is important to me. I have experience with CBT, DBT, ACT, parts work and Hypnotherapy, but pull from other therapies as well.

I use CBT, DBT, and Solution Focused work, using mindfulness, breathing techniques, visualization, and goal setting to help clients reach their short and long-term goals.
My ideal client is someone who comes to therapy in a time of need. They might be experiencing anxiety due to life changes and transitions or they might be experiencing symptoms of anxiety for the first time and be concerned as to where the anxiety came from. The client might be processing loss or grief from a loved one or past friendships and or relationships. My ideal client will have needs such as needing to identify coping skills to get through life stressors, assistance with reaching goals. As a therapist I would be able to provide the client with a objective perspective to bounce their ideas and situations off of.

I use a variety of modalities including narrative therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and focus on the mind-body connection.
It is an honor to participate in people’s growth and change. My approach to therapy is holistic and person-centered. I strive to make therapy a place of safety, vulnerability, and connection. You are the expert of your life experience, and as your therapist I am glad to walk alongside you as you learn more about yourself. Systemic oppression affects how we navigate the world and shapes our perspectives. At times, life circumstance, trauma, and mental health struggles can leave us feeling hopeless. I see therapy as a way to restore hope and be the author of our own stories.

I often incorporate Somatic Experiencing, Attachment, DBT, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative, ACT, and Nature-based techniques and philosophies.
There are many reasons to be in therapy, no two people need the same thing. My approach to therapy is similar, tailored to what an individual needs at that moment in their life. Some come to therapy to gain support for a particular challenge or shift in their life. Some come to therapy to understand themselves better- why do they do, think, feel the way they do? Some want to process trauma, something that has happened to them that has impacted the way they live their lives. Everyone is different, and everyone needs support at different times of their lives. I provide a non-judgemental witness to where you are right now.

Laced within these elements, I follow a person-centered and strengths-based approach, with emphasis on mindfulness techniques, holistic care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectic Behavior Therapy ( DBT).
Your healing journey is as unique as your fingerprint. Cultivating this path takes openness, intention, and nurture - all key elements in the therapeutic process. While the depths of ourselves can be excruciating to explore, it is only with deep discovery that true awareness and relief blossom. This knowledge opens the path toward acceptance and change. As a therapist, my focus is creating an authentic space where genuine expression thrives. This environment allows for a strong therapeutic bond, which I believe is the catalyst for major transformation.

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
