As a therapist I specialize in trauma and stress. I am a combat veteran and career first responder and I strive to serve those who served, however I accept clients from all walks of life. My clinical orientation is Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, however I am also trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based Trauma Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. I see clients in both the Phoenix and Chandler locations.

Dr. Folts sees clients facing a variety of issues with offices in Arizona and Florida. Life presents us with circumstances; at times challenging our relationships and ourselves. Therapy can be a catalyst in the discovery of creative and viable solutions, or in the personal work toward acceptance. Dr. Folts brings a wealth of experience and training. She has been a faculty member with Maricopa Community Colleges and counseled students, employees and faculty in her work with Arizona State University. Dr Folts' doctoral research included depression, anxiety, chronic/prolonged illness, as well as those facing terminal diagnosis.

When we're under too much daily stress or have experienced major life changes and loss, it's not uncommon to feel anxious, overwhelmed and irritable. Our usual ways of coping may no longer work and "relief" may be short-lived. As a solution-focused therapist, I help people gain practical tools to navigate stress and uncertainty, while gaining a deeper, more compassionate understanding of themselves. In therapy we can focus on the past or present (or worries about the future), develop strategies to cope, empower and heal, so you can live the life you truly deserve.

My ideal client is someone that is suffering from low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, personality dysfunction, or trauma-related symptoms and is ready take back control of their life. My client would be willing to learn coping skills to help reduce their symptoms to be able to resume normal, daily functioning. Are there things about your family or relationship that you wish were better or different? Depressed? Anxious? Frustrated with your child, your spouse or your parents? I enjoy helping people explore and improve marital/couple, parent-child, and sibling relationships. I specifically enjoy working with parents and their adolescents to decrease negative, antisocial behaviors, and increase functioning in the family overall. I am also interested in helping family members to improve marital/couple relationships related to stress in the home and with their children. Additionally, I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with sexuality-based issues.

I work with clients who are struggling with any of the following: (1) unwanted sexual behaviors; (2) trauma caused by sexual betrayal; (3) marital quality; and (4) ancillary issues of depression/anxiety. My methods produce rapid results and are based on reliable research.

With experience since 2005, I have had the opportunity to work with individuals to make positive changes in their lives. Whether you are experiencing a recent crisis, have long term challenges or are making life changes, counseling may be helpful. Meet Pam, a Certified Trauma Specialist who has been working with children since 1987. Pam's passion is to help families become more securely attached by working with children and adolescents who have trauma, attachment disorders, and autism. With Pam's expertise in trauma using Instinctual Trauma Response, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, and Autplay Therapy for autism, children and their families can experience the highest level of care and support.
