For this reason, trauma informed care and focus on attachment patterns has become an integral part of my practice. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to understand their therapy goals. My background and understanding of diverse cultural contexts (being a Muslim woman) helps me provide culturally sensitive care. My therapeutic style is direct and pragmatic, however, I can adapt it to fit client needs.
In the first few sessions I try to gather the client’s history and work with my client to make a blueprint of their therapy goals. Once we have finalized the goals, I present the client with best suited treatment options i.e., I discuss the different therapy modalities (CBT, DBT or EMDR) and how each of these can be used to achieve their specific goals.
