My practice is centered around supporting individuals and couples at those tricky life stage transitions. Together, we work towards developing a new rhythm of being, while integrating both their past and present identities as a person, partner, and parent. My approach to therapy is collaborative - where healing occurs within relational contexts. As I walk along side you, I attempt to remain rooted within a trauma informed, systems and attachment-based perspective.

I have worked with adults of all genders to overcome a wide range of issues using a combination of compassion-focused, cognitive behavioral and attachment-based therapy.
We all experience times when life becomes overwhelming, leaving us feeling vulnerable and off-centered, sometimes leading to profound depression, grief, anxiety or the use of unhealthy coping strategies. Stressors include major life transitions, relational challenges (conflict, separation/divorce, domestic abuse), parenting or/caregiving responsibilities, health difficulties, social oppression/discrimination, and trauma as a child or adult. No matter how strong you may be, you don't have to go it alone. Everyone struggles from time to time, and many benefit from seeking help from an experienced, highly trained psychotherapist.

I use an attachment-based framework and socio-cultural lens to conceptualize relationships and behavior whether working with individuals, couples, or families.
Research shows the relationship between the client(s) and therapist is the most important component in creating change and relief from distress. My hope is to create a safe space for you to explore yourself and your relationship(s) and for us to work together respectfully, openly, and honestly to achieve your goals. I am passionate about working with couples and have advanced training in Emotionally-Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). I enjoy working on marital/couple issues, LGBTQ+-related concerns, life transitions, existential issues, and gender identity. I also like working with mental health professionals and therapists!

My clinical work is attachment-based and trauma-informed, focusing on child and adolescent populations.
As a systemic therapist, I think of people kind of like nesting dolls: we all go through life as the little one in the middle, whole and independent, yet undeniably we are nestled in larger contextual structures. I will meet you with compassion, humor, and non-judgment in the therapy space, holding your whole picture in mind as we work together to integrate the realities of your context with the realities of your heart. All parts of you are welcomed and held. I am a queer-identifying provider and enjoy supporting clients in navigating their own identities.

I use a trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, harm-reduction, interpersonal, attachment-based approach to therapy.
Do you feel alone in your struggles, whether those are battling depression or anxiety, exploring sexuality, navigating cultural generational divides in your family, avoiding burnout, or how to survive/thrive amidst racism, sexism, queerphobia, transphobia, and other isms? I work with clients to create a safer and more affirming space to explore their identities, navigate complex relationships, and address the effects of systemic oppression, discrimination, and trauma on mental health.

I view things through an attachment-based lens, am trained in EMDR (trauma therapy), and i often incorporate various other modalities into my practice such as: Cognitive behavioral therapy, Internal Family Sytems, psychoanalytic/dreamwork, and mindfulness self-compassion.
Are you currently going through significant changes in life, finding yourself feeling complacent and unable to take the steps to achieve your goals? Or maybe you have past trauma that seems to keep coming up that is impacting your current relationships? Therapy is about self- discovery, personal growth and healing. I prioritize collaborating with my clients to build a trusting, nonjudgmental, laid-back relationship that allows me to provide validation, introspection, while also keeping it real and challenging you to do the deeper work that often constitutes healing.

My approach incorporates relational, psychodynamic, attachment-based and holistic lenses.
If you're reading this page, you are likely experiencing some emotional distress and/or dissatisfaction that you would like support to understand and resolve. Perhaps you can identify causes and perhaps it just feels confusing. Meeting with someone to gain understanding around where these experiences originate, as well as tools to address them, is a great (and brave) step. I would love to chat to see if we may be a good fit in that important work.

I work from a trauma-informed, harm reduction, and attachment-based perspective, and leverage my liberatory beliefs to dismantle the stigma of mental illness.
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients (ages 16+), especially those with complex experiences of trauma, dissociation, and plurality. Together with my clients, we explore identity, relationships, and how to heal within a societal structure that oppresses us. Joining others on the road through trauma into healing has become my life’s work and passion.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
